Polling based on party affiliation is wrong. Here's why

Posted on 10/04/2009 4:27:58 AM PDT by Halfmanhalfamazing

Because conservatism is bipartisan, that's why the media chooses to rig polling based on party affiliation instead. Watch:

Gallup Poll #1 . Gallup Poll #2 . Battleground Poll

The numbers vary, but it's abundantly clear that conservatives outnumber liberals.

But democrats out number republicans

What this means is that people more readily identify with the ideals of conservatism, than they do with "the conservative party".(I put that in quotes because the republicans have been at war with conservatives for quite a few years now)

It also means that people more readily identify with the democrat party than they do with the ideals of liberalism.

And what do we always see in the news? Conservatism is out of the mainstream, and the democrat party is as clean as the wind driven snow.

We need Sarah to start the Conservative Party of America

Ok so because we cannot get Conservatives to get off their butts and take back control of the Republican party, we should future splinter into an even more of an irrelevant minority by setting up a third party?

If you cannot even rally enough Conservatives to take back the GOP from the RINOS, you are certainly not going to find enough Conservatives to set up a 3rd party that will be anything but an irrelevant fridge movement like Perot's "Reform" party.

Rather then sitting in the corner throwing a tempertrarum, Conservative should learn from the Tea Party movement. Get out there, get involved or concede the whole government to the political Left forever.

If Harry Truman or Hubert Humphrey were alive today, they would be at home in the Republican party. They would mourn for their Democrat party and hate the leftist clowns who have taken it over.

O the important issues, if one can spend the time to discuss and explain the issues, a good number of so-called Democrats are conservatives.

“You mean Grandpa voted for communists?”

No. They may have been misguided, and most of the “Grandpas” of my home were not very educated, but their heart was in the right place. The “D” of today is an entirely different animal than the “D” of 1950. Those Grandpas were honorable men. They fought and won WW2,and survived the REAL Great Depression. They honored their commitments, took care of their families and we as their children and grandchildren receive the Blessings that came from their sacrifices. Party label doesn’t define American. Those of that Generation, who bled and died, who sacrificed for this nation, for us, that is what defines American. We should all have more respect.-—JM

Sarah will get the conservatives off their butts, but not as part of the RINO party. That was already tried in 2008. She is the only reason that I, and many other true Conservatives, even voted. We had to hold our nose with McLame at the top of the ticket and many true Conservatives couldn’t even bring themselves to do that. A Conservative Party, run by Sarah, can, and WILL, win in 2012. She will bring MILLIONS of non-voting Conservatives to the polls. We should no longer waste our time with the RINO party. We will have to work with the RINO congressmen until they switch to our party or go over to the Rats.

“Because a lot of conservatives are no longer self-identified as Republicans.”

So, you’re saying that a lot of conservatives willingly vote to elect a party that at its very core is hostile to their interests? I guess that’s a form of suicide, a practice that the West embraces with increasing eagerness.

Yes they were, but FDR wasn't.

Uh, no - try wrestling with the concept of 'independent' and get back to me.

BOTH parties are losing voters in droves, because both parties have gotten Beltway-tized to the bone.

“West Virginia, traditionally a very Democratic stronghold. While the folks I know and love there aren’t fiscal conservatives, on social issues they are fairly conservative.”

West Virginia is fiscally irresponsible. Its major industry (as far as “employment”) is Workers Compensation claims and filing lawsuits.

It would be easier to purge the Republican Party of its left-leaning RINOs than it would be to create a new “conservative” party.

What we need is a true conservative candidate who can really connect with the conservativeness that is inherent in most Americans, ala Ronald Reagan. We need a leader who can champion the pride of Americanism and get the people excited about America and its place in the world. Ronald Reagan’s eternal optimism about America, when it was suffering from the lamailse of the Jimmy Carter fuster cluck, ignited a people who were desperate for the message of “We are Americans, we can do ANYTHING if we put our minds and energies into it.”

I like Sarah Palin, but she has yet to show she can deliver the message like Ronald Reagan did. But, do you know who can? John Bolton.

Uh, show me what’s independent about voting for a political party that is out to destroy what you believe in, simply because of the rationale “Well, we’ve always voted Democrat, just like my daddy and granddaddy.”

Yeah, that’s real independent.

“is Workers Compensation claims and ....”

You aren’t far off base. In some parts of Appalachia, we have a culture of “disability”. It’s really sad - in my life I have seen a proud and independent people reduced to accepting the crumbs of welfare. The grinding poverty I saw in my childhood may be gone, but it has been replaced by a poverty of pride and self reliance. In many ways, we are now much poorer.-—JM

I’m hoping that Republican voters stop voting for the ‘Party’ and vote for the person on the ballot that represents their interests BEST.

In my opinion the Republican ‘Leadership’ believes the enemy is Conservatism and Conservatives. This is obvious from silly statements that the RNC puts out. Add in that some Republican Senators and Members of the House seem to live on another planet than Conservatives do and it becomes easy to see that the Republican Party will NEVER get their ‘act together’...

The Republican Establishment ‘Leaders’ want Conservatives to abandon Conservative principles and become Liberal Lite / Democrat Lite. And are astonished that we do not want to do that... then start carping at us - Conservatives are the problem - Conservative principles are outdated...

The Republican ‘Leadership’ is simply BLIND to what the Tea Party, Town Hall and March on DC folks have been saying and what they continue to SHOUT... The Republican ‘Leadership’ is basically - Deaf - Dumb and Blind and seemingly STUPID!

Simply not acceptable...

Individual Republicans - hopefully real Conservatives will just have to get their ‘act together’ with the voters despite the RNC and the Other Republican ‘Leadership’.

Sarah Palin is not a brain trust but she is getting better... and will keep on getting better...

Bottom Line - Sarah Palin has ONE THING the RINO’s do not have — Charisma - the ability to get millions and millions of people extremely excited - all the while abiding by Conservative Principles...

The Liberal / Left derides Palin because they know Sarah is the ONLY Republican on the scene that can beat Obama inn 2012.

And the Establishment Republicans - mostly RINO’s and stuffy Party philosophers cannot stand the thought of Sarah Palin leading the Party - BECAUSE it would mean that ‘THEY’ would not get their PROMISED turn for a shot at running for POTUS.

OK so we should become an angry radical 3rd party fringe political movement just so we can feel really good about our ideological purity.

No thanks. Might as well preemptively surrender the country to the Left as pursue that course.

We tried that in '08, how's that working for you? A Conservative Party would NOT be a radical 3rd party fringe party, it would be mainstream USA. So who you gonna vote for in '12 - Romney, Huckabee or a true Conservative - SARAH
