Polly, I leave my garden hose on, during the warmer months, because when my furry kid does her ‘duty’ in the grass, if I spray it with water, no spot will be left on the lawn. This morning, the hose was frozen solid!

I’m betting a quarter (to any betters, here) that there will be two inches of the white stuff tomorrow morning, here in the High Desert!

WOW.... snow means winter! What happened to Autumn?

Better keep the furry kid indoors.

As The Tide Runs

In silence I sit, listening to the memory of the sea
the waves they calm me, they set me at rest, pain flees
The cry of the gulls carries me to a distant place
far beyond the constant cacophony of the human race

The whisper of the waves racing back to the sea
over the wet sand as each spent wave turns to flee
I pause as I reflect on the sandpiper’s little dance
amid the flotsam and jetsam of fate’s cruel lance

Sea grass waves in the lightest evening breeze there
and I sit quiet to watch the moon scribe a line fair
Like a silver highway to some other place it lays
upon the waters, across the night between the days

Gentle clouds on the horizon hide a distant reach
where anything is possible if you leave the beach
The ship of dreams awaits you for that final trip
to a place you’ve sought, there on your silver ship

It is time to set the course and rig the sails
time to begin yet another to be forgotten tale
Lift your eyes to the horizon and beyond the pale
see the unknown waiting there for you without fail

Lost And Found
This my son was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found. —Luke 15:24

A Wall Street Journal article by Jennifer Saranow chronicled the extraordinary efforts of middle-aged American men who are trying to find the favorite car they once owned and loved, but lost. They are searching on-line car ads, phoning junkyards, and even hiring specialists who charge $400 an hour to help them search for an automobile that once symbolized their youth. These men want the actual car they owned, not one just like it.

Some would call their efforts frivolous—a waste of time and money. But the value of a car, like many things, is in the eye of the beholder.

In Luke 15, people who were despised by their society came to hear Jesus. But some religious leaders complained, “This Man receives sinners and eats with them” (v.2). To affirm how valuable these “sinners” are to God, Jesus told three memorable stories about a lost sheep (vv.4-7), a lost coin (vv.8-10), and a lost son (vv.11-32). Each parable records the anguish of losing, the effort of searching, and the joy of finding something of great worth. In every story, we see a picture of God, the loving Father, who rejoices over every lost soul who is found.

Even if you feel far from God today, you are highly valued by Him. He’s searching for you.

I once was lost, but now I’m found;
Praise God! Christ died for me;
He valued me, redeemed my soul;
From sin, He set me free. —Sper

Those who have been found should seek the lost.

I told you wrong. Actually it depends on whether your browser is set for Windows Media or Quicktime. It's actually just the HTML code:

<embed src="welcome.mid" autostart=true width=100 height=20 loop=false>

Were the src can be mp3 or wav as well as mid.

Which brings up another question. You would have to include the path in the media source file name but assuming that you did that, is that code allowed on FR?

Wonderful thought today, Mayor.

Interesting, because for the past 10 years one of my favorite searches on ebay is to find items I remember as a child. Born in 1941 I often do searches just to see what I can remember.

I confess I have purchased dishes from my childhood, pictures, etc. Now what to do with them all!!

Need to look forward!

Polly

Thanks for your further explanation, fewz. I'm familiar with the code for embedding music and have used it on personal pages. :)

FR doesn't allow embedding - used to, but it's been a long time since embedding music was an option here.

I don't use Quicktime - I use itunes for mp3's, and Windows Media opens for any midis that happen to be embedded on a page I visit. I still prefer to turn embedded music off - otherwise I have to mute my speakers. It's not that I don't love music! I LOVE music! I just prefer to choose whether to listen or not! :)

Too bad. I was just thinking that maybe you or Ms Amy could post a spooky graphic with spooky sound effects on Caturday since it’s Halloween.

I could set up a page and post a link but I’m not good with the graphics.

Sounds good. A good spooky background and some animated gifs of bats and ghost and such that I could overlay would be good.

Love your opening today! Great Witch, Lori! And the bats after the graphic/poem are a nice touch (as was the black cat yesterday!) :)

Thanks, all, for your compliments on my recent contributions. Sorry I've been AWOL again. Busy time here. Company is coming this weekend and I have a ton of things to get done. No rest for the weary or wicked or WAY overworked. LOL.

I will check in when I can, but probably won't be able to stay long enough to visit. Hope everyone has a safe and spooky Halloween! Party on!
