Less is Moore: Capitalism is bad, his documentary claims. So what’s his solution?

Who denies that Michael Moore is a communist? Not Michael Moore.

I gave him the opportunity to stake out a position for himself as a non-extremist at Alice Tully Hall on Monday night.

After a screening of "Capitalism: A Love Story" at this sparkling palace of capitalism (cocktails in the Morgan Stanley lobby, little black dresses in the Citi balcony), Tina Brown brought Moore onstage for a Q&A.

She posed a series of questions about his skill and daring, then invited the audience to query the filmmaker. I went to a mike and said (I am paraphrasing our chat), "I couldn’t help noticing that you use the Bolshevik anthem [‘The Internationale’] on the soundtrack at the end of your film. Wouldn’t you agree, though, that communism was far worse than Clinton-Bush era capitalism in the US?"

Moore seems to be personally enjoying Capitalism quite well!

What an ignorant arrogant jerk. Release your movie for free if you don't believe in capitalism, butthead. The irony is so thick. His deluded fans will pull out their wallets, pull out money they earned in our capitalist economy, pop for the price of a movie ticket, sit in a theater built with money made under capitalism, spring for popcorn and sodas etc., and listen to how capitalism is bad.

Disgusting.

The accompanying pic nicely captures Moore's character.

In the 1930s the New York Times willfully, skillfully and with malice aforethought covered up Stalin's state engineered famine... and dialog on the true meaning of communism has suffered in the west ever since.

I do not believe we can adequately address this subject today unless a full accounting of that famine and it's MainStreamMedia-coverup is openly discussed throughout the United States.

How is the Ukrainian famine of 1933 relevant to our lives in America today? Because the same institutions that covered it up and told us "all is well with Soviet Communism" are still in power in our country today, and still forming today's political opinions, especially among the young.

If we open up this can of worms, and follow it's slimy trail from the 30's all the way to the 21st Century, we will find that trail to be an unbroken path of lies -- a seamless story of cover-up and propaganda.

Our country is very very sick. We just elected a communist president. Nothing less than a long deep look at the past will pull us out of our mental delirium.

Many books and films done by libs are scattershot, anecdotal observances only tenously connected to the subject at hand. I remember reading part of Al Franken’s book, “Rush Limbaugh Is A Big Fat Idiot”, and observing the same things in Franken’s book as in Moore’s books and films. They’ll start talking about a particular subject (poverty, etc) and make non-sequiturs supposedly “proving” their point. Franken wrote in his book that Rush makes fun of poor people, but just look at how fat Limbaugh is. Actually Rush has always described the conditions that make people poor, but Franken thought that pointing out Rush’s weight “proved” his theories about poverty wrong. Same thing with the Moore book I read. Snide (and usually false) remarks substituting for reasoned analysis.

No doubt. Just like Will Farrell and his buddies who did that film bashing the insurance industry. They all live better than 90% of the business people they attack.

Yep... if he really believed in what he was selling, he'd divide all of his profits up for everyone out there.

Ain't gonna happen.

You’ll find that in a Yiddish dictionary next to “schlub.”

When your audience consists largely of snide, fake people, you can get away with that.

Gee, how come it’s okay for Michael Moore to make a bundle via CAPITALISM with his idiotic “documnetaries”?

He’s just another self serving LIBERAL hypocrite.

I saw a free screening today which just shows how sick he is. I’m fine with that fat slob not getting a dime, but what about the editor? the distributor? the guy that printed the film? the other one that shipped it? All these American men put labor into this film and his “intellectual purity” is denying them the fruits of their labor.

Don’t get me started on the content. He actually argues that companies taking out so-called “dead peasant” policies is a bad thing! Those companies invest in training their employees and need to protect that investment. There’s no reason for widows to see a dime of that money because they didn’t pay for the policy and they should have had to foresight to get their own life insurance.
