A question for the techies among us:

I have an old compote I want rid of. For security reasons, I must either pull the HD and sell it as “almost” a computer, or (preferably) wipe the HD and then reload it from the “restore” partition.

To do that, I need to know how to do a serious, no-fragments-left format of the HD without touching the “restore” partition.

Would one of y'all tell me a good way to do that, or recommend a software thingie for it?

I don’t think there’s any good way of doing a real wipe without destroying the restore partition. That’s the point of the restore partition. I’d wipe the hard drive and sell it as-is, no operating system. Or if the security issues are real, pull the hard drive and sell it brainless.
