Thanks, that is an impressive diorama; scale model if you prefer, simply amazing. Hope she got an A+ on her assignment.

From NRO’s ‘The Feed’
Get Your Geek On: The ‘Women of Middle Earth’
[ Via: CSPAN ] Christine O’Donnell, communications director at the Intercollegiate Studies Institute, led a discussion on the depiction of women in J.R.R. Tolkien’s “Lord of the Rings” trilogy. The discussion focused on Bradley Birzer’s book, J.R.R. Tolkien’s Sanctifying Myth, published by ISI Books. According to Birzer’s analysis, the religious spirituality informing Tolkien’s books was specifically Roman Catholic. In addition, he suggests that the female characters Galadriel and Elbereth were designed to exemplify traits of the Virgin Mary. Jenna Murry joined Ms. O’Donnell in deconstructing the symbolic roles of the women of Tolkien’s Middle Earth. . . . Not just geeky – super geeky. UPDATE: I missed this the first time. It’s Christine O’Donnell, Senate candidate. — GP

The newsies are going crazy! We’re getting not one, but TWO, Trader Joe’s in the Kansas City area. It will be interesting to visit them, but they are both far-distant from the shire for food-foraging, unless, of course, they have lembas.

The Leawood location isn’t too far out of the way. I’ll have to check it out.

That’s what I thought. I can check out the Ward Parkway location on my way back home from Dr. ZZZZ’s.

Let’s see if they’re better than Whole Foods. WF is more conveniently located...right across the parking lot from the likker store.

I finally picked up the accent color for my rectangle. (hope 8 oz. is enough) and some matching mums to put out front. I have to do something to restore the battered (so-called) landscaping. I think I need to make a little insect screen to put in the bottom of my FLW fixture.

You know, I’ve got fully enclosed porch lights and everytime we have to change the bulb there are a couple of dead little buggies in there. How in the world they get in there I’ll never understand.

Congratulations on picking your accent color. So many choices, choosing paint drives me nuts.

I need to try and get some lilies split, if’n it’s not too wet, before the rain comes in this afternoon. I had an appointment with Gypsy’s groomer last Wednesday which I had to cancel ‘cause Gyps doesn’t do thunderstorms, and I really like the groomer.

I’m more worried about wasps building nests in there. Fortunately I’ve got plenty of window screen makin’s cluttering up my garage so all I have to do is take the measurements and put it together. The fixture has a little lip at the bottom that should hold it in well enough to keep wasps out.

My yard is still wet and I have to get the back yard mowed sometime soon.
