Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Hobbits were expert bow hunters. Tolkien just never gave us any views of the Shire during hunting season. :)
"I shall call you Sting."
He did Buffy the Vampire Slayer which 2J is very fond of. I love Firefly of course and recently Talon and I saw the Dr. Horrible Sing-Along Blog (which was pretty awesome).
His stuff has some traits that I really like and are why I watch a lot of anime, like continuous plot that lasts for more than one episode and characters that drive the story rather than vice versa.
BWAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!
Awesome.
Speaking of NetFlix...
I’ve got a friend from church who is a missionary in Guatemala. She wanted to sign up for NetFlix to watch their online stuff. But they recognized her address as being out of the country.
Would it work for her to use ~my~ NetFlix account? It’s currently inactive, but I’d reactivate it if it would work for her.
I dunno what their rules are, they still might not want to ship out of the country.
No, maybe I’m not clear. She doesn’t want them to ship to her in Guatemala. She wants to watch what they offer online.
Oh - I get it. I dunno that either, I guess it depends whether they physically ‘block’ overseas streaming.
I just did some internet research and the answer is No. Netflix blocks non American IP addresses from their streaming. There are workarounds involving using VPN services but they probably get blocked frequently and it’s not something most people want to bother with.
Heck apparently they even block Puerto Rico.
Thanks for checking that out. She’s managed to get ESPN, but has some trouble viewing it. She’s interested in the Olympics for next year. Hulu.com doesn’t do outside the U.S. either.
http://www.channelsurfing.net carries ESPN live. That’s how I managed to watch half of the NASCAR races this year.
Thanks. I’ll tell her.
Heh, we're HUGH "Firefly" fans in our house!
BROWNCOATS!!
[sigh]
Have I ever commented on how much I hate Sarbanes-Oxley? Perhaps I’ve made some comments before, but have I fully explored the depth of depraved contempt that I have for not only this law but the men who sponsored it?
Perhaps I’ve forgotten to do that before...
Mmmm... Leupold CQT. I really like mine. I kinda wish I had it with me right now.
I just landed in SFO... am here for the whole week and weekend. The SOX audit is underway, then I have a principals meeting over this weekend. Blech.
Between the time I got in the air, and the time I landed, something has gone utterly sideways with the audit. Apparently somebody in my group has disappointed me very much. Something they were very precisely and specifically asked to do... was not done. In fact they were asked some time ago why it wasn’t done... they said they’d take care of it right away... and it went undone. Now it appears the SOX audit has discovered that it wasn’t done. What was this thing? A simple thing. A particular new account was supposed to be set to auto-expire after six months. It was set up without the auto-expiration. This oversight was discovered before the six months was out... and [person] was asked to please make sure that the auto-expiration was set correctly. He said he’d do it, and then just a few weeks ago his manager reviewed the accounts and found that it had never been fixed and would he please do it NOW.
It appears that he just blew it off again, and now it’s an exception in my audit.
In the entire six year history of SOX audits here, I have so far had a grand total of ZERO exceptions, either in the internal or external audits. A record I have been very proud of, BTW. Not too many IT groups can say that.
I am not a happy camper. Dang, and I was having such a nice day...
Sorry about your sideways...
Coincidentally, my conference is this thurs-fri in Seattle and I was going to see if you wanted to get together, maybe crash there for the night. And you’re not even going to be there :~( Bummer. Ah well, not that big a deal to just come home, other than the temptation to not go back.
I lurv my Eotech, and ACOG. But when I chose the CQT for my nephew's rifle, I started to see how it's an acceptable compromise for both. At 1x, it works well for snap shooting, yet you get quite a bit of reach at 3x.
I figure if I can't get the job done with the CQT and a 5.56mm rifle, I have bigger hardware to take care of business.
Oh, dang... I guess I could’ve even left a hide-a-key... but I don’t have one out just now. Bummer.
