Why is the moon important? Well, for starters, all animal fertility cycles depend on the moon. Well, not all, maybe, but many. For example, Turtles show up on the full moon to bury their eggs on Mexican beaches. Womens fertility cycles and gestation periods relate to the length of the sidreal lunar month.
More?? I think it’s very important to fertility cycles of all living animals, but I don’t have the background to follow this line of thought in detail.
Their 'serpent' reminded me (the upper portion of both pieces) of a (lunar, not solar) analemna, in some respects, though that would at the very least require that there be two or more sets of data represented, instead of one.
I imagine that also would be one of the first things ruled out by the pros. ;-)
