Pit Bull Awareness Day is a common event around the nation. Tulsa held there first one this weekend, in hopes of educating people about the pit bull bread.
"Pit bulls get a bad rap but thats with any bully bread, because of the stigma people associate a lot of negativity to them, " Millicent Adu-H'Torah Tulsa Animal Welfare Coordinator said.
Just last year, two children were attacked by their family's pit bulls at a home in north Tulsa. A memory still fresh in the mind of neighbor Timothy Allred.
"As a family pet they are too agressive for that purpose, so I'm really not sure why they even exist to be quite honest," Allred said.
While some people are against owning pit bulls and say they are way to dangerous to be around children. Others are standing up for the breed and saying they're just like every other dog.
My mastiff is probably a goner. All mastiff breeds, you know, they’re so big and all, they MUST be dangerous. Matter of fact, they probably are.
Let’s just ban them to be on the safe side. Can’t have a dog over 15 pounds, it might scare somebody.
spoiled? you mean there are people who don’t let their dogs sleep on the couch?
Since I have only been bitten by a Jack Russell and a wire haired terrier mix, I’d advocate banning both of those. Oh, and miniature poodles because I’ve never seen a nice one. They are the devil’s dogs.
Actually, had a golden retriever try to jump through our plate glass window once because he saw kids inside. We should ban those too.
What an over-generalized, assinine statement.
From my cold dead hands!
Mine used to sleep in our bed. I consider myself fortunate that he’ll settle for the couch.
Whoa! Pretty baby! Mine are on my profile page. But the mastiff is much bigger now. Much. He was just a puppy in that picture.
lol I told my dog that I was gonna put him outside chained to a tree and he would have to sleep in the mud all night.
He just looked at me and plopped his head back down on the sofa cushion.
I’ve got 4 rescued dogs that could all have been killers if raised that way...even my beautiful basset baby. The humans are the problem with any dog or any “bread”!
:-D
I hate it when the mods have to remove a comment. My curiosity goes rampant...what did it say, huh huh huh?
Yep. And people who focus on one breed to ban are sooner or later going to focus on another one.
As with everything else...until you ban stupidity, there’s no sense in banning anything.
How about Pit Bull elimination day? That’s what we need.
Thanks. That, unfortunately is the late Molly but I have 3 more cockers now of assorted colors. Your baby is pretty impressive!
I had a rescue cocker spaniel, years ago, she was caramel colored, and when we lived in the city, I kept her skirts long and pretty. She looked like a princess with the bow in her hair. We moved to the country, and she immediately cleared the yard of moles, the barn of rats, and kept all the possums and raccoons away from the chickens.
She was never happier than when she was dirty, muddy, and victorious...
ROFL! So true, so true.
What if the "person putting their hands on the girls" is a child? Maybe they have a quarrel with one of their friends, or they are just wrestling around and being silly?
Some neighbors had a very imposing, agressive rottie. Our five-year olds were friends but I wouldn't let mine NEAR them. They would point out that their kids crawled all over the dog and he was "so gentle". Sure, until my little kid tried to push their little kid off the swing or something.
“Mine used to sleep in our bed. I consider myself fortunate that hell settle for the couch.”
3 of mine sleep in the bed with me. Only one prefers her own bed. I have been accused multiple times of lying down with dogs!!! I’ve never come up with fleas, though! lol
On winter nights, I’m sure that’s cozy and sweet...
