Pit Bull Awareness Day
Fox23 ^

Posted on 09/13/2009 9:56:48 PM PDT by Chet 99

Pit Bull Awareness Day is a common event around the nation. Tulsa held there first one this weekend, in hopes of educating people about the pit bull bread.

"Pit bulls get a bad rap but thats with any bully bread, because of the stigma people associate a lot of negativity to them, " Millicent Adu-H'Torah Tulsa Animal Welfare Coordinator said.

Just last year, two children were attacked by their family's pit bulls at a home in north Tulsa. A memory still fresh in the mind of neighbor Timothy Allred.

"As a family pet they are too agressive for that purpose, so I'm really not sure why they even exist to be quite honest," Allred said.

While some people are against owning pit bulls and say they are way to dangerous to be around children. Others are standing up for the breed and saying they're just like every other dog.

I won’t eat pit bull bread unless it’s made with organically grown pit bulls.

Does pit bull bread taste more like banana bread or zucchini bread?

I would guess jalapeno-cheddar, but judging by the slice in Chet99's dog in #5, maybe it's cracked wheat...

amazing how so many people who claim to want less government interference in their lives are the first ones to want the government to interfere on whichever issue fits their personal agenda.

Thanks for the ping. How is the pup? I love them at that age... big clumzy goofballs.

Check the OP’s posting history. I don’t read a thing by this poster. This poster has some major OCD issues. I mean OBSESSED.

He/she really needs to get a hobby or something.

Amazing indeed! They want laws to destroy an entire breed for his/her personal agenda, by law, and jail all the owners.

Whose breed is next?

spoiled by now huh? Geez, some dogs don’t even know they are dogs. Like mine... they think sleeping on the couch all day is normal for all dogs. They don’t even know they are dogs.

When that pup gets to be two or three, I would love to see someone try and put their hands on one of the girls.

Which is where every pit bull owner belongs.

You are kidding me, right? Let me give you a little history. Both sets of my grandparents lived in the country in the south. Both had farms as well as other work. Wanna guess what breed the working dog was on both farms?? Go ahead, take a guess. A pit bull also known these days as the AMSTAFF. These dogs have a long history of being a faithful and helpful companion to families on farms in small towns in this country for literally hundreds of years. They are a cross made between bulldogs and terriors and have many of the best characteristics of both.

It is no fault of the dog that some have corrupted the breed in the worst possible way. Now those people should be punished! Those people breeding for oversized heads and massive chests and warped personalities are at fault, not the dog and not the average person who happens to love the animal for what it really is.

Waste of breath, typing, etc., I'm sure. I'm happy people are trying to educate the general public on the real issues here.
