I am not sure it is really a different reason. One of the greatest attractions of home schooling that I know of is to avoid the usually hidden liberal propaganda that most public schools indulge in doing. Right now, this is blatant liberal propaganda.

If they look at MY medical records they are going to DEMAND that I report to the ‘pre-death’ center.

I have always gone with the adage that if the seal is well intact, eat it. I am still alive and I don’t recall ever being sick following that practice. Similar with all canned foods - but rusty cans get my attention and I sometimes will toss those.

One look at a history schoolbook is enough reason to stop the indoctrination of your child, trust me. The authors are so liberal slanted they make it a revisionist historical record. One book I used had two paprgraphs about the Korean War, and nearly a chapter on Clinton’s first term. I can’t wait to see what they will do with the zer0’s legacy, probably need a separate book for it. Look, I know how the books are edited from an editor of history books for schools, and no matter what a professor turns in as a contribution to the book, it will come out basically unrecognizable at the end of the editing, I guess the editors opinion is the final word, no matter how factual the truth is.

They're already clearing a wing in the New York Public Library for the work.

Thanks for the info on the cansning. And another thing here (now I’m on a roll) my theory why so many kids are unsmart (my term) is because of all the “student centered learning” coming out of places like Harvard. I experienced it in a computer class at University in the 1990’s where the professor thought she would use it on us. We had teams and worked on papers together. Then we had to write the experiences up and turm them in separately. One other lady told me to just tuen in the same work and retitle it for the next three papers due, that the professor never read them, and that was what she did. Word spreads around on how professors teach and grade. So, the students let the more ambitious ones do the work and they got credit for being in the group. That is why I think there are so many young adults out there who are slackards because of the student centered learning practiced by teachers (note the teacher had to do less actual classroom lecturing)

LOL! There will so many exhibits after he leaves office at all libraries and museums, streets, airports, hospitals, universities, maybe even a state renamed for him. A visitor to the U.S. will think he’s landed in Iraq.

Oh do I ever agree with you. I have made it a practice to go to library book sales and buy old history books if only to preserve them to show people the truth, and how things have been rewritten since the PC crowd came in charge. A history teacher should tell children right up front that events written about that are less than 50 years old are unable to be placed in proper historical context, and why that is true.

Similarly they should be told right up front that people who claim “consensus” as science have no idea what they are talking about. The way science is done is to DISPROVE the “consensus” theory and that skepticism is the very heart of science.

Will it kill me or start a botulism epidemic if I open them up and eat them?

When food safety is in question, I never take the chance.

Or just simply say the "science is settled". Worked for the global warming nutcases.

Oh, wait, it hasn't really worked after all.

Never mind.

drove 60 miles to attend a church where the sermons weren’t so “watered down

Yes! We did that. Back when our kids were small and we were living in Stevenson, AL, we drove to a church an hour and 15 minutes (shorter if all the lights were green!) so that we would get good, solid and challenging biblical teaching. There were good local churches but we wanted something that wasn't so "watered down."

Are the jar lids still concave (pushing downward) in the center? Has there been any seepage through the seal? You may need to unscrew the ring in order to check on the latter. But if the jar lid doesn’t “click” when you push down on the center and there has been no seepage, I would say that you are good. Utah Girl is the expert on this, but ...

AFphys, so good to “see” you! I can believe that about the school and the Obama books. The children’s section at Barnes and Noble is crammed with them. In fact the whole store is. I now order books for my grandson on line.

Here in central Indiana there are a lot of schools who won't be airing it to their students, due to the massive number of calls and threats to keep kids out of school that day (which causes school systems federal dollars).

As we are posting, the Obama people are re-writing his speech to be something innocuous, a la GHW Bush's talk or Reagan's.

But the original lesson plan (before a hasty revision by the DOE) shows us this was a major indoctrination effort.

I am heartened by how many people are starting to pay attention to this stuff.

I forgot she was the resident expert on home canning. Thanks for your help. I was wondering if you are still a co-diet coke addict with me? I just had my teeth whitened and now I am thinking of going cold turkey and turn to water. I also had something injected in the bags under my eyes to minimize the dark (hereditary) circles. My husband says I am still overlooking the obvious (my weight battle) What a dear man he is (who now will get the job as test taster of all my canning!)

I just remembered a great (and thick) book that is a MUST HAVE for anyone interested in preserving the truth about history called "The Black Book Of Communism" by two French writers. It is a detailed chronicle of communism in the world and is very interesting, yet pretty pricey. I bought it off a student who took a course on it one time and my price was better than the university buy back price.

BTW - a great place I used to collect a lot of free textbooks and other books was the day a university has a buy back at the end of the semesters and the book companies don't want certain ones back and so they are tossed on a table to anyone who wants to take them.
