Good morning, all. Quick hello as I will be gone this morning.

Fox and Friends says talk to schoolkids will last an hour.

Surely not. Kids will be snoring in their seats. HAHAHA!

I hope he does talk that long. I hope he uses his usual talking style. I hope that he speaks in the same tempo and timber throughout that hour.

I hope the kids squirm their seats and the teachers have to discipline them severely for not paying attention to that intensely boring man. That will give them a lasting subconcious distaste for Caligula.

Good morning, Molly.

Cold last night, but it looks like a nice day coming our way.

I think you mentioned the Fruit of the Loom commercials. Vince Gill is in one of them. He is a country singer and an excellent guitar player.

Larry Elder’s column is so true. Many people vote and know nothing about who they are voting for. Scary to think that these people get behind a wheel and drive.

I would have pinged you. I didn't know.

He is good. He sings well AND is the lead guitar while he sings. I imagine that is not easy to do. Definitely harder than walking and chewing gum at the same time. Some people can't do that. ;-)

Good morning everybody, thanks for the condolensces.

Uncle Floyd was my grandmother’s brother. About 6 or so years ago at the age of 86 he went up for a ride in an ultra-light. Up until the last couple of years he’d think nothing of getting in his car and driving literally across the country to visit relatives etc. He had an old Mercedes Benz that had somewhere upward of 300,000 miles on it. That’s a good runnin’ car!

The world is harsher and more barren without him. He was a staunch conservative and Lutheran and drove 60 miles to attend a church where the sermons weren’t so “watered down”.

I have my mil and fil coming today and will be busy much of the day. In fact, sounds like we are going to be spending a LOT of time with them over the next weeks due to medical issues. There go the plans for the music festival, I’m afraid.

We’ll see...

Good morning!!

Well, I have gone and done it.

I have created a new yardstick with which to measure the Obamination--the Worst President Ever.

I call it the Presidential Passion Index. It is derived from the Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll.

Background:

Every day (well, almost every day--Rasmussen doesn't poll on Mother's Day, July 4, and I would suspect Thanksgiving and Christmas, but those haven't occurred yet), Rasmussen goes out and calculates four data points with respect to the President's performance: Total Percent Approve, Total Percent Disapprove, Total Percent Strongly Approve, and Total Percent Strongly Disapprove.

From this, Rasmussen calculates something called the Presidential Approval Index, which is determined by subtracting the Total Percent Strongly Disapprove from the Total Percent Strongly Approve numbers.

That value is currently: -11.

The last time that number was above 0 (more people strongly approving of the Obamination's performance than disapproving) was on June 29, 2009. It has been negative ever since with a slowly increasing trend.

But I don't think that measures the depth of feeling. The question is out there--how deep is the strong approval or disapproval? From the four data points provided by Rasmussen, I believe it is possible to answer this question.

To analyze the Rasmussen data, I have decided to divide the Total Percentage Strongly Approve number by the Total Percentage Approve number. This gives me the percentage of approvers who are strong in their feelings of approval.

I have done a similar calculation with the disapproval side of the equation.

I finally then subtract the disapproval calcuation from the approval calculation. That number is the Presidential Passion Index.

It is an interesting analysis.

It shows whether people are more apt to be strongly committed to either approving or disapproving the actions of the President. In other words, it determines whether, if someone approves, whether they are more or less apt to strongly approve. Similarly for disapproval.

Interesting facts from this analysis.

The last time this value would be non-negative (in other words, a stronger feeling of high disapproval than approval), was on April 18, 2009.

The last time the value was positive (in other words, when people approved of the President's performance, they were more apt to strongly approve, as opposed to the disapprovers, who would be viewed as only "lukewarm" in their disapproval) was on February 27, 2009 (over six months ago!).

The most interesting data point was on February 8, 2009--this was the first time that the value was negative (people who disapproved were more apt to strongly disapprove than those who approved would be apt to strongly approve). That was only 19 days after inauguration. I, personally, interpret this as meaning that people were getting a pretty quick measure of the President, and not likely what they saw.

Won't repeat the above long-winded explanation every day (you may wish to bookmark for reference), but here's today's numbers:

Percentage of those Approving who Strongly Approve: 60%
Percentage of those Disapproving who Strongly Disapprove: 74%

Today's Presidential Passion Index: -14
