Photos of Snow Leopard Disc and Retail Packaging?

MacRumors has received a set of images claimed to be the retail packaging and disc for Apple's forthcoming Mac OS X Snow Leopard. If the images, which appear to depict the Portuguese version of Snow Leopard, are in fact authentic, it would mean that Snow Leopard discs are already in mass production.

"The world's most advanced operating system. Perfectly optimized."

Multiple sources claimed earlier this week that Build 10A432 had been designated "Golden Master", meaning that it was considered the final version to be sent to manufacturing for public release. Several sources have also claimed that Apple may be releasing Snow Leopard as early as Friday, August 28th, ahead of Apple's previously-announced September launch window.

ORIGIN late 16th cent.: Latin, literally ‘to the person.’

Frankly, even wikipedia does a better job than Spotlight:
An ad hominem argument, also known as argumentum ad hominem (Latin: "argument to the man" or "argument against the man") consists of replying to an argument or factual claim by attacking or appealing to a characteristic or belief of the person making the argument or claim, rather than by addressing the substance of the argument or producing evidence against the claim.

The process of proving or disproving the claim is thereby subverted, and the argumentum ad hominem works to change the subject.

Ergo, not ad hominem.

In my Mac dictionary it says: ad hominem |ˈad ˈhämənəm| adverb & adjective 1 (of an argument or reaction) arising from or appealing to the emotions and not reason or logic. • attacking an opponent’s motives or character rather than the policy or position they maintain : vicious ad hominem attacks. 2 relating to or associated with a particular person : [as adv. ] the office was created ad hominem for Fenton. | [as adj. ] an ad hominem response. ORIGIN late 16th cent.: Latin, literally ‘to the person.’

Yep, that's the entirety of the Spotlight definition.

But that first definition is overly-broad because there are arguments that appeal to emotion which are not ad hominem.

>The first readable comment (one other already removed) is ad hominem and immaturely off color -- with no reference to the product or its technology at all

Instead of phrases
from Latin, shouldn't you be
talking about things

like has Apple purged
the Mach microkernel from
Snow Leopard and used

direct-entry code
for low-level calls rather
than message passing?

1) I'm unable to predict or pre-set the size and shape of new windows (most noticeably in Safari).

Safari should "remember" the last window size on any new window. So, open a window in Safari, adjust it to the size you like; and then close that window. Now new windows in Safari will be that size.

The big cats thing is strange, especially since the public beta was called Kodiak, then they went off with the kitties for the full releases.

IIRC the cat name was just an internal project name, but they liked it as a public name and kept it. It caught on, so why not just continue with the big cats?

When you think about it, Apple gets more "buzz" than any other tech company I can think of. I mean tech companies would kill for this level of attention. Can you imagine an article about the box cover art for a Dell computer?!

Guess it works for me. I've already pre-ordered my Snow Leopard "family pack" from Amazon.

To be fair, Spotlight will give you the dictionary definition. Wikipedia will give one a bit more specialized, and a textbook on debate and logic will probably go way in depth on the subject.

Is Apple going to donate any money to preserve real Snow Leopards (Uncia uncia)? I beleive there are only about 5000 in the wild.

Ah -- the last closed window's size. I usually "bail out of" WABC by closing its window (with newer windows still open) -- that's why its size "sticks around".

Just tried it -- and now everything's under control. Thanks!

See, I told you it probably was "cockpit error"... LOL!!!

So, it’s Sunday night on the Mac thread, with the required sniping going on, so no one but you will notice my off-topic question.

Yesterday, I bought an iPod Classic. I think the only difference between it and an iPhone is ATT is still out about a $100.00 a month phone charges from me. But I paid a lot for it! but it was on sale (whoopee, $10.00 off!). It has 120GB...yes, one hundred twenty GB! Heck, this MacBook Pro only has 160GB! Do I need to have buyers remorse? If so, can I watch the 2 episodes of Dr. Who I just dragged and dropped on it first? And I haven’t tried putting any music that was not bought at the iTunes store on it yet, is that gonna be a problem?

And I need Snow Leopard because...? (I’m still mad that I can’t run Panther on this MBP!)

My next computer will be a MBP. Just can’t justify the expense right nowcuz the Macbook handles everything I throw at it.

Congrats on the iPod. They are dandy devices.

Thank you for demonstrating the definition of an ad hominem attack and a lie

You've done me a great service. Thanks.

Applauding the personal attack is the same as posting it yourself.

Applauding a lie is the same as lying yourself.

You killed two birds with one stone. I applaud your efficiency.
