This will be a general purpose thread for F1 news and pings that really don't require a thread of their own.
"...According to Ecclestone, Hamilton’s move to Ferrari has been a failure. "'Everything is slipping away from him there,' Ecclestone is quoted as telling sport.de. "He wanted to become world champion there and is now surprised that he can’t do it...."

Ferrari needs to blow the dust off an old radio message and put it back into modern use.
“Charles is faster than you, Can you confirm you understood that message?”
Hooded thugs invaded the home of “The Professor” in Nyon, Switzerland, and konked him on the head. He’s bruised but not badly injured.
Is anyone going to take up posting the race-by-race threads in the main forum? I thought maybe WhiteHatBobby0701 was unavoidably detained but he posted as recently as yesterday (23 May) and there’s still no thread for Canada. Carriage Hill was posting them before WHB but he’s not posted anything since 16 Apr.
First time I’m sitting out
The Indy 500.
Just a Race...
Another Barbie Car Race?
Kidding, of course.
So far nobody to fill the big shoes of our Chode.
I can’t. Im in a bus in my way back- from the Indy 500!!!!
After my experience today, rhe hell with F1....
Well, "it's not a real country anyway".

I’m not technically fluent enough and I’m not Ann Apple TV subscriber so that would be a big hindrance.
The FIA fined George Russell €5.000 for the temper tantrum when he DNF’ed in Montreal. His base salary is $34 million so that’s about what he makes every 90 minutes, 24/7/365.
Plus the fine gets suspended provided he keeps his nose clean for 12 months, but the press calls it “YUGE.”
https://www.motorsportweek.com/2026/05/25/george-russell-fined-by-fia-for-f1-halo-embarrasment/
The F1 press is also calling Hambone’s drive “phenomenal” because he went from 5th to 2nd when he didn’t overtake any of the three, two of the drivers who started ahead of him DNF’ed and the third was a victim of Mclaren’s tire screw-up. And the only reason he caught Verstappen is because his car had a better battery.
And don’t even get me started about three formation laps.
Welcome to Domenicali’s Formula One.
Hamilton is the DEI kid.
There will be no macarena wings — or any other ‘active’ aero — at Monaco because there are NO overtaking zones.
Yes, THERE WAS a DRS zone in 2025, but there will be no “straight” zones in 2026.
The first three links say mostly the same thing, but I post them to prove I’m not making this crap up.

This makes it interesting...
BTW — nobody thinks you make up ‘crap’ - you just post other’s ‘crap’ for us to assimilate!
Just finished watching the CANAD race last evening...Russell sure threw a tantrum!
At least Max was on the podium!
PS. I spell it CANAD because a few friends and I once went to the Lake of the Woods, MN to hit golf balls SOUTH into Canada — when we went through customs the last ‘A’ had fallen off of the official building...it was a good time.
The F1 press is still running its mouth about Mercedes losing it’s ICE advantage when the new 130ºCommunist (266ºF) compression test goes into effect this coming Monday. Except the same F1 press earlier reported that the FIA already has tested the Mercedes engine under the new regs ... and it passed.
So rumors of Mercedes’ death are greatly exaggerated.
Nitwit Bernie Collins says 266ºF isn’t hot enough because “I’d estimate the engines are something like 350, 400 degrees,” so that’s where the tests need to be done.
Waitaminute. She supposedly has been a hi-zoot engineer for two different F1 teams, so why does she have to resort to “estimating?” And why does she further need wiggle room of “something like” 12.5%?
Not confidence inspiring, is it?
Apparently she’s not enough an engineer to understand what a YUGE increase in complexity it would cause to test the engine at 400ºCommunist (752ºF), the first problem being how would they get it that hot when the engine CAN’T be running?
The 266ºF is easy-peasy because they’ve already got external pumps that circulate hot water through the car’s cooling system to pre-heat it to ~175ºF before starting it for the first time on Friday, and keep it warm all weekend. But with water, temperature equals pressure and the F1 cars’ cooling systems aren’t meant to withstand much more than 266ºF.
By the TR, there’s a relief valve on the coolant reservoir that blows at 3.75 barG (55 PSIG), which works out to 302ºF (150ºCommunist) steam pressure. And when there’s a relief valve assuring the cooling system will never need to withstand more than 55 PSI, there’s no need to make it more robust (and hence heavier) than that would require, now is there?
Which means implementing Bernie’s plan would require inventing a new device to heat the block, one that can’t make use of the the car’s cooling system.
FYI, steam temps in nuclear propulsion systems (in pigboats & flat tops) tops out about 300ºCommunist, so 400º is a pretty big ask by any neasure.
And she offers purely supposition — not a whit of evidence — and even her supposition is pretty vague — that 400º would be more supportive of the objectives of the TR than the current 130º.
Definitely a DEI hire.
Carlos Sainz has aired the family laundry. He’s claiming there’s a feud going on over the proposed 2027 revisions to the engine format.
Obviously Domenicali et. Al. think the current plan is fine and only needs a little bit more tweaking. And the Power Unit suppliers are all certain to fall in lockstep with Steffie because they haven’t yet amortized their developmental costs.
Sainz (in his role as head of the Grand Prix Drivers Association) is asking the FIA to step in and settle the dispute. Domenciali is spearheading the propaganda campaign to convince everyone there’s only a fringe element that’s complaining, but it doesn’t seem likely there would be squabbling enough to cause Sainz to go public with this if the complaints were that small scale.

And not to forget that NONE of this engine hybridization crap has ANYTHING to do with improving the quality of the racing.
Mercedes says George Russell’s DNF in Montreal was caused by the battery pooping the bed.
“On George’s PU failure, it was an engine kill caused by a failure in the battery, which just suffered a catastrophic failure a third of the way into the race and brought George’s race to an end there.”

Huzzah for battery-powered F1 cars!!
If you thought you had all the reasons you could possibly need to hate the hybrid F1 cars, read no further.
They’re dialing back the max battery boost at Monaco to curtail top speeds.

Nascar gets better looking every day.
Blimey fella!
You’ve got a Celsius issue! I’m gonna call my buddy Kelvin and report you!
I think Bernie is an idiot and truly can’t understand a word she emits...
