61 years ago today, Jackie Stewart entered his first event in an F1 car.

It was the 1964 Rand Grand Prix, a non-championship event on the Kyalami circuit.

Stewart won. It also was Stewart's first and only F1 event at the wheel of a Lotus.

A page or two back I was speculating that Ollie Bearman might be too young to remember the heyday of the Scuderia Ferrari, and so might not be smitten with the bug to drive for them.

Let it never be said that I won't stand it like a man when I'm wrong.

Bearman admits life's goal to race for Ferrari

As speculation swirls around Lewis Hamilton's Ferrari future, Oliver Bearman has made clear that he remains fixed on the long-term dream that has powered him since childhood.

As the saying goes, "there are horses for courses," and Verstappen definitely is the horse the Racing Gods made expressly for the ground effects era.

This insane stat confirms Verstappen’s supremacy in the ground-effect era

...In the ground-effect era, Verstappen alone has scored more podiums than any other team combining both of their drivers....

Then again, ...

Max Verstappen Not Only Wins his GT3 Debut at NĂĽrburgring, He Dominates

...he's not too shabby in a simple sports car either.

Probably your first opportunity to hear the sound of Honda's 2016 F1 engine.

No, sorry, it's never going to sound like a V-10 because you can't tune a 6-pot to have that major third interval.

Oops.

What I meant was:

With Newey’s blown diffuser anyone — including Hambone — could have won with that car.

Vetel would smash into rivals, destroying their cars and would go into the pits for new tires...

Let him sleep with the fishes or Greta Thurndburg...

I DO appreciate you posts, PG!

How much each driver in the 2025 F1 field was paid per championship point scored

This isn't really a fair comparison because the scoring structure awards ZERO points to half the field at every event, but it is relevant if you winnow the field just to those who are (or should be) contending for the title.

Nonetheless, this is the entire list:

20. Isack Hadjar $19,608

19. Oliver Bearman $24,390

18. Alex Albon $41,096

17. Liam Lawson $78,947

16. George Russell $81,505

15. Kimi Antonelli $83,333

14. Yuki Tsunoda $90,909

13. Oscar Piastri $91,463

12. Nico Hulkenberg $98,039

11. Gabriel Bortoleto $105,263

10. Charles Leclerc $123,967

9. Lando Norris $135,934

8. Esteban Ocon $157,895

7. Max Verstappen $180,523

6. Carlos Sainz Jr $203,125

5. Franco Colapinto $300,000

4. Lance Stroll $409,091

3. Lewis Hambone $451,923

2. Fernando Alonso $473,214

1. Pierre Gasly $545,455

#20 is the one who really catches my eye because Hadjar was punching SO FAR over his weight, next season he's replacing Yuki Tsunoda. So soon enough we'll see if he wilts under the pressure of Verstappen.
