"You have no idea what a privilege it is to have my two favorite living poets right here."
The Poem
The poem rests inside my head,
Like carvings set in stone.
And all I have to do is cut away,
The words that arent my own.
Every singing bit of rhyme,
Is like a memory.
So all I have to do is shed,
The parts that arent me.
One thing I often wonder,
As I chop the chips away,
How much of me is taken with,
The message I convey.
With all the mass of messages,
The scriptings that Ive cleft,
When I set out the last of them,
Will anything be left?

That's an introspective one.
This is one of my favorites:

I see the Artist sweep the brush, And waken up a world. Just like remembered stories, When sparks are rising, swirled.
The talent just amazes me, That with a moving hand, A landscape is uncovered, Where before, there was no land.
To hold a brilliant flower, Or show a grove of pine, The Painter creates worlds unknown, By tracing out a line.
The Creator shows no effort, For most of what is done, And just to shed a little light, He brought forth a new sun.
And separated heavens, And let the waters flow, And breathed a life into the world, But was it just for show?

I was thinking of that one earlier, in regard to that young lad in England said to be a prodigy in watercolor painting.
Sometimes it's hard to understand what the heck I'm talking about, until you get far enough along to realize the point I'm making. This one illustrates that:
As Long As I Live
In one of my first adventures,
I traveled as a fox,
I then became a cat or two,
(I think outside the box!)
Of course, back in my caveman days,
So much I did not know!
The warm inviting firelight,
The cold, warmth-drinking snow.
As Robin Hood, my Merry Men,
Could entertain me well,
In hidden bowers of the wood,
Where I and they did dwell.
I didnt like the dying,
But thats a part of life.
You take the bitter and the sweet,
And struggle with the strife,
For this is why youre living,
Here in the folded lands,
The flat landscape that opens up,
Uncovered by your hands.
Transferring wisdom through those funnels,
You call eyes into your head,
To give you memories of past lives,
As gifts of what youve read.
For now the thousand lives Ive led,
Inure me to some pain,
Those joyous friends I will not see,
Unless I read again,
Yet still they wait, on dusty shelves,
For other eyes than mine,
Like goblets for the next to taste,
Their own first sips of wine.

Sorry to say I have to hit the hay. My eyeslids have gone on strike.
Rest well.

As it is midnight in most of Texas and I'm not sure what time I'll get here to post the Warm Fuzzy Wednesday opening in the morning, I'm getting a head start and will post it now - and immediately after posting Wednesday's opening, it's off to bed I go. Thanks for making today a good one!
Oh, and for those who watch America's Got Talent - our Chicken Farmer guy, Kevin Skinner, did it again! He had another winner tonight - and a brand new look to boot. Will try to get a link for you tomorrow.

Illuminating The Dark
As the Zodiac illuminates the ebon sky above
the silken night winds, whisper of eternal love
And the hours till the coming of approaching dawn
set jewels of dew on each blade within the lawn
A night bird sings soft of the day now just past
the echoes set the moment in our mind so fast
Cloaked in a gown of stygian black, time floats on
only to slip away, in the soft pearl and gold of dawn
I watch the sands flow through the glass a pace
knowing the flow so eternal in its linear race
Accepting the gift of this moment with humble need
to remember it so much, when later my soul to feed
Peace comes to the quiet mind, finally at rest
in which the turbulent flow is overcome as test
The gladdened heart fills, with a moment most sublime
and then one captures a fragment of ever moving time
Good Night one and all

Matters Of The Heart
The hearts of this people have grown dull. Their ears are hard of hearing, and their eyes they have closed. Matthew 13:15
At the beginning of a spiritual retreat, our speaker Matt Heard asked, Hows your heart? It stunned me, because I tend to focus on believing with my mind and working with my hands. In the activity of thinking and serving, my heart is pushed to the side. As we were led through the Bibles repeated emphasis on this crucial center of our lives, I began to grasp his premise that belief and service are, more than anything else, matters of the heart.
When Jesus told a story to illustrate how people receive and respond to His teaching (Matt. 13:1-9), His disciples asked, Why do You speak to them in parables? (v.10). In reply, Jesus quoted the prophet Isaiah: For the hearts of this people have grown dull. Their ears are hard of hearing, and their eyes they have closed, lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, so that I should heal them (v.15; Isa. 6:10).
How dangerously easy it is to neglect our hearts. If we become callous, we find no joy in living or serving; and life seems hollow. But when our hearts are tender toward God, understanding and gratefulness flow through us to others.
So, hows your heart?
Our service for the Lord becomes
A duty that is hollow
If we neglect our heart for God
And Him we do not follow. Sper
