JC, you don’t know what that graphic means to me.

Safeway has blueberries on sale (99 cents a pint) only one week out of the year. Every year, I buy at least ten pints, freeze them on cookie sheets, and then vacuum seal, once frozen.

That way, I have ‘fresh’ blueberries all year long, for cobblers, pies, blueberry pancakes and waffles, and juices.

Well, Tuesday was the last day they would be on sale - and I bought 20 pints. I just (today) finished freezing and bagging them all.

Good feeling to have them all sitting there, frozen, just waiting to be enjoyed.

Then, today - another local store had HUGE green peppers on sale for 33 cents each. So, I bought 24. Tomorrow I will fix two into ‘stuffed peppers’ for dinner. The rest will be washed, cut up, blanched, frozen, and then vacuum sealed for use in cooking - all year.

There’s just something about a good sale (on stuff I use all the time,) that just feels like ‘love’!

No, JC - you aren’t silly at all. I feel that with the condition of our country, today - we ALL need all the ‘belly laughs’ and smiles we can get (or share with others.)

You are right - ‘laughter IS good for your health’. I think it is also good for the heart, the mental attitude, the spiritual understanding, the love we share with others,.................

I’ve probably forgotten someone .... Darn it ...

Marissa said to tell everyone thank you for the messages about her medals. She said that she feels proud of herself and to tell you that she is going to work hard and try to get more medals next year.

What sweet puppies...is there anything as cute as puppies?

All the nice folks at Amy’s Place, I still need some prayers for my Auntie Mickey. She is still having a bad time. It’s been 3 months now. They found the cause of her trouble and it is occipital neuralgia, an inflamed occipital nerve. It is causing all kinds of bad symptoms. She has now developed insomnia from the pain of the condition and is having trouble healing her body, due to the insomnia. She’s never been so ill and she’s been through many other things in her life. This nerve is a biggie and affects everything from the head and neck right down the back. Tonight we talked about it and she thinks the lack of sleep has made it more difficult for her body to heal this nerve and the associated problems. The doc has agreed to give her something to aid in sleeping and this is her first night with that drug. A week’s worth of normal sleep will do her a world of good.

So dear Freepers, if you would pray that my dear Auntie would finally get some sleep, and that her nerve and body and mind will heal with the power of prayer....Lord knows her doctors have tried numerous drugs to help her but no luck so far. She is seeing a physical therapist twice a week now to work out the kinks in the effected areas of the nerve. She’s in pain more than half the time. She has 2 or 3 good days in a week and the rest are pretty bad.

So prayers up for Auntie Mickey, that she’ll be healed by the grace of God. Amen!

Ode to Grog, Swill, and Mead
After me first taste of mead
I see an ever increasing need
To hold on to a chair
Lest all that which was air
Suddenly turned out to be
None other than the sea
And after tasting swill
I would feel safer still
If I were totally sure
Of the fact that chairs were
Something that could float
Like perhaps a ship or boat
Maybe a duck would do?
I’d feel better if I knew
By what means I’m bound
To keep from being drowned
In this ocean of alcoholic haze
Yet some it doesn’t seem to faze
That the floor has begun to tilt
And sober resolve has begun to wilt
I’ll tell you of my first drink of grog
And how it put me in such a fog
I almost thought that I saw
An iceberg through it all
What I yelled, I dare not reiterate
But I can confidently state
Never will I forget what I remember
Of that day in cold Dismembre
When I had more drink that I should
And was much too merry for my own good.

Real Rewards
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. —Matthew 5:3

I once viewed the Beatitudes in Matthew 5:3-12 as a kind of sop Jesus threw to the unfortunates: “Well, since you aren’t rich, and your health is bad, and your face is wet with tears, I’ll toss out a few nice phrases to make you feel better.”

Unlike medieval kings who threw coins to the masses, though, Jesus had the advantage of dangling real rewards before His audience. He who came down from heaven knew well that the glories of the kingdom of heaven would easily counterbalance whatever misery we might encounter here on earth.

Among many Christians, an emphasis on future rewards has gone out of fashion. My former pastor Bill Leslie used to observe, “As churches grow wealthier and more successful, they’re less likely to sing ‘This world is not my home, I’m just a passin’ through’ and more likely to intone, ‘This is my Father’s world.’ ”

We dare not discount the value of hope in future rewards. One need only listen to the songs composed by American slaves to realize this consolation of belief. “Swing low, sweet chariot, comin’ for to carry me home.” “Nobody knows the trouble I’ve seen, nobody knows but Jesus.”

Over time I have learned to respect, and even long for, the future rewards Jesus has promised.

Let me go, for earth’s fond pleasures
Soon will vanish and decay;
But the soul has richer treasures
Shining bright as cloudless day. —Bucks

Dark trials will be rewarded by bright crowns.

We have some nice warm days in winter too and they are so appreciated. When its freezing cold and then warms up enough to sit out a day or two in winter, its heavenly!

When I saw that blueberry graphic, I thought of Lady Jag's sweet story and poem she posted today....her own poem, I'm sure!

I do not know how you have time to do the blueberries, peppers, and all the other things you do! I wonder if you ever take 10 minutes just to relax. LOL!

My freezer went out a couple of years ago and since there's just me, I decided not to replace it. Although, I could use a small one many times. Re: blueberries....I hear they are VERY GOOD for us. A friend of mine lives close to my M.D. and they use to go to the same church. She told me one of his hobbies was raising blueberries. I am positive he knew they were good for his health also!!

I can fully understand. I will remember your Auntie Mickey in prayer and pray that she receives the rest and sleep that she needs so badly. God Bless Her.

"Wear Red" Friday
You will soon see a lot of people wearing Red on Fridays. Here's why..... The Americans, who support our troops, are the silent majority. We are not "organized" to reflect who we are, or to reflect what our opinions are. Many Americans, like yourself, and all their friends, simply want to recognize that Americans support our troops. Our idea of showing our solidarity and support for our troops is starting Friday and continuing on each and every Friday, until this is over, that every red-blooded American who supports our young men and women, WEAR SOMETHING RED.

Word of mouth, press, TV -- let's see if we can make the United States, on any given Friday, a sea of red much like a home football game at a University. If every one of our memberships share this with other acquaintances, fellow workers, friends, and neighbors, I guarantee that it will not be long before the USA will be covered in RED - and make our troops know there are many people thinking of their well-being. You will feel better all day Friday when you wear Red! So let's get the word out and lead by example; wear RED on Fridays.

SUPPORT OUR TROOPS! WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE, BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE. FOR US, THEIR BLOOD RUNS RED!! GOD BLESS AMERICA.
