heads to prison

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) - A former Americorps director in Meriden has been sentenced to six months in prison for embezzling more than $150,000 and failing to pay income taxes.
Federal prosecutors said Tuesday that 33-year-old Jonathan Holden, of Hopkinton, Mass., formerly of Middletown, Conn., was sentenced in New Haven.
Authorities said Holden caused Meriden to issue paychecks in the names of others, which he then diverted to himself for his own benefit.
Holden was ordered to pay restitution of $152,502 to Meriden’s insurer and back taxes, plus penalties and interest, to the Internal Revenue Service.

Thanks, Republicans).
With intervention from Michelle Obama, the Americorps inspector general was given the boot and replaced — for doing his job too well, it seems, and uncovering squandering of funds by favored contributors, educational institutions, and left-wing groups............
