NEW YORK – Michael Vick has been conditionally reinstated by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.

Vick can participate without delay in preseason practices, workouts and meetings and can play in the final two preseason games — if he can find a team that will sign him.

Actually, I don’t even count Tank, because nothing he was arrested of is even a crime in Texas. He was a victim of draconian Illinois gun laws and nothing more. However, I think you are mistaken about the Dallas arrest record. Didn’t Pac Man get arrested for beating up his bodyguard at a strip club shortly after he signed with Dallas?

I think you will find the number of teams seriously thinking of signing him is closer to 1/4 and at veteran minimum.

I’ll proudly wear the jersey of whatever player breaks his legs for him.

Nope. Incident was quieted down by the time the cops got there and for once in his life Pacman STFU and was allowed to leave. If it hadn't been for his history it wouldn't have been a big deal. I've seen a hundred times where cops show up and a couple of guys have been duking it out, but they're done and neither wants to press charges, so the cops shrug and leave.

The problem was that the cops got called at all, particularly after Jerry hired a guy to watch Pacman.

I am OK with this.

Every time that I ever saw Vick play, I enjoyed it.

He’ll be signed by the Cowboys by October. Jerry Jones will not be able to resist.

Yeah - the illegal gambling aspects certainly don’t have any impact on his playing in the NFL.

You make excellent points.

My initial thought upon his release from prison was that he might decide to play a season or two somewhere like the NFL’s League in Europe (if his parole conditins allow him to leave this country) to get back in shape and re-hone his skills.

It would give a chance for the furor to die down a bit here, and also allow him to prove to the world that he has turned his life towards a new directioon. No matter where he plays the media WILL be stalking him to try to catch him doing something “bad”, so he WILL be found out if he is still living the thug lifestyle.

And, even though he has been re-instated to the NFL in the U.S. I STILL think playing outside the country for a while might be a good idea for him.

By the way, with his running/scrambling ability and his sure hands I think he would make a great wide receiver. He’d probably find it easier to “lay low” in some other position besides quarterback.

The bengals only sign rookie thugs .. or thugs that are making their debut. M. Vick has been out of the closet, served his time and is starting over. That and plus no matter how DESPERATE he might be to ge back in the league even he could not stomach the bungles.

Cincy, home of a billion dollars of extorted taxpayer dollars. The sewer system doesn’t work in either stadium and the excrement still floats to the top in both.

If it is “M. Brown” flush it down.

Pro Football Talk has been implying the Redskins might sign him. They seem anxious to dump Jason Campbell. They tried to swap for Cutler and tried to move up in the draft to get Sanchez.

Supposedly, he would be a specialty wildcat QB while Campbell plays out his option. Complicating it is that Campbell and Vick have the same agent.

Jason Campbell (speaking as a Cowboy fan) has gotten a raw deal from the Skins. They've changed coaches and offenses a lot since he signed; he's been a reasonably solid, conservative QB. He's remained stoic in spite of being continually dissed by the team. Course, this is Pro Football Talk that posted this, and their motto is "get it out there first; find out if it's true later."

“You can’t just drop that and run. My sheppard or my pit would dominate the 60-75 pound weight class.”

I discussed my threat with my lab when I got home and she laughed me out of the house, then she went back to sleep on my couch! I guess I will just slink off of this thread now.....

Sorry, bad behavior is bad behavior. The NFL Executive Committee is comprised—in part at least—of team executives. Ergo the NFL’s decision represent’s the collective team’s decision to reinstate the felon Vick.

There is no such thing as being “a little bit pregnant”—if you get my meaning.

I’m hoping the fans will ultimately boo the slime off the field and force the NFL to do the right thing. But I’m not optimistic it will happen. It’s all about money and celebrity—nothing more.

Oh, and exactly what kind of a role model is Vick to millions of kids—black, white or whatever—who idolize these people (whether or not the players want to accept the responsibility that goes with that notariety)?

There is no rationalizing the NFL’s decision to take the man back. This pap about wanting to do what’s right to help a “young man” redeem hiself is just merely self-serving BS. The NFL is counting on idiot fans coming out and paying to watch the animal abuser. And by the way, the step from animal abuse to human abuse is a very small one.

That kind of perversion may be suppressable up to a point, but it is never curable. Vick is conscienceless. No human being with a conscience would even contemplate doing what he did. Remember, this was not one time event. Persistently, over time, Vick killed animals simple because they were not good fighters.

You know, you need to reevaluate what is important in life my friend.

Your long written monologue about Michael Vick and allegation that I "need to reevaluate what is important" was in response to a statement by me that the NFL doesn't have a thug problem because the number of thugs in the NFL is less than that of the general population and teams generally police themselves very well. I fail to see how, in any way, what you are saying addresses anything in my post.

"Wonder if the Browns will sign him."

Only if Cincy declines his offer, the rules in Ohio is that Cincy gets chance at all Felon Football Players first, then the Browns can have at 'em...

"After going 0-16, Detroit has nothing to lose by signing Vick."

Come On dude, I know Vick's crimes are unforgivable but he has served his sentence, further punishment is just plain mean!
