Episcopal, I think.

Terribly tasteless. No class.

Might have been ELCA since the pastor was a female.

Hope their life together is as much fun as it was when it started out. Good marriages have to be lots of fun and joy with one another. Jane taught me that.

What’s wrong with dancing down the aisle? It’s a wedding, it’s a celebration, have some fun.

“Different” upsets people sometimes. (Sometimes it upsets me.) In this case, more power to the newlyweds. I’m glad they posted it on You Tube. It was a joyful thing.

Not to rain on the Good Time Parade but...

Marriage is a solemn occasion (in my Faith, you are in the living presence of Christ). In any case, you are pledging vows before God. The people in the Church are witnesses.

You can party your a** off AFTERWARD.

About 17 years ago I was invited to my friends wedding in Beverly Hills. It was a Jewish Wedding, at one of the most elegant synogogues I’ve ever been in. The ceremony itself was dignified and elegant. At the end, the groom broke the glass, everyone said L’Chaim..at that point the entire wedding party turned around, put on groucho Marx nose and glasses, the band started playing “WE’RE OFF THE SEE THE WIZARD” (from the wizard of OZ) and the entire wedding party skipped down the aisle!!! It was totally surreal.

But 17 years later, I still remember it like it was yesterday! The groom said it was his idea...he just said he couldn’t believe how serious it all was..he wanted to kick off the reception with people feeling happy! And that they did! I haven’t thought about this guy for years...I’m going to go see if he’s on Facebook right now!

This is one of those threads where there is likely to be no middle ground. Most people expect churches to be places of solemnity, holiness, and quiet dignity. That’s how I was brought up. Nevertheless, I can’t help but believe we were created to experience joy as well—not out of God’s presence, but within it and because of it. I guess I don’t see irreverent joy in this video. I would not want to see this become the norm—and that’s the risk. But for one isolated moment in time, I feel like clapping along with them.

Yep.

“(Marriage) is not by any to be entered into unadvisedly or lightly; but reverently, discreetly, advisedly, soberly, and in the fear of God.”

Solemnization of Matrimony

Looks to me, that they were making a pretty darned joyful noise unto the Lord. . . .

2 Samuel 6:14

And David danced before the LORD with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod.

Do you really think Christ would object to people being happy?

I’m in agreement here. I think the ceremony should be solemn, and then everyone tears loose at the reception.

I believe wedding celebrations should be joyful...and they are....but these clowns did reception stuff at a time for the marriage ceremony.

People no longer understand the difference between the ceremony and the reception. I see this at both weddings and funerals. the ceremony is where traditions are affirmed and beliefs and vows are said. The reception is where personal celebrations and memories are provided.
