Correction: My mistake. Hulu used to have the full length movie available. I know because I watched it there. Seems all that is there now are trailers.

First of all, though it cost $150M in production, its worldwide gross was $212M, so it was a moderate success. Importantly, it made more money outside of the US. And being nominated for 10 Oscars, with 2 wins, doesn’t hurt either.
Some have speculated that it made *less* money in the US, because the plot was changed from the British chasing an American ship, to them chasing a French ship. Not because it would be slamming America, but because Americans have no real objection to not being the center of attention, and the movie would have been more interesting to them.
Importantly, the projected sequel would inherently cost much less in production, because The Reverse of the Medal mostly takes place on land. However the ship is well maintained, and ready to be used again as needed.

I loved that movie !!!!
It is among my all time favorites....Master and Commander, Last of the Mohicans and Open Range. And I don’t care what anyone else thinks.... don’t care about box office.
Outstanding - brilliant! (And I’m a GIRL!!!)
Totally agree - and a damn fine movie on leadership!
Might try these

That movie sucked. Had some strange cadence and the shots were to tight.
I should sue to get the two of my life back.
Other than that, it was a great movie.
Do over:

Is there a version of Bladerunner available on DVD now that has the voice-overs re-inserted? I bought a director’s cut several years ago and to my dismay it had them taken out. While I understand the goings on and appreciate the “cyberpunk” genre’ my wife has no idea and to a novice the explanations are a nice addition.

The first movie was seriously cool on DVD, for the next one I’ll see it in the theater and get the Blu-ray.
I fell asleep twice trying to watch It, give it to my sister, were it ended up at a yard sale, no sale at a buck. Finely sold it for a quarter
Not sure why everyone is talking about Ridley Scott on this thread, since M&CTFSOTW was directed by Peter Weir. Weir is not mentioned at all in the article, and I hope he’s back for the second one.
The D/C of Bladerunner I have has the voice-over. Maybe my timing was good.
It is amazing how much controversy one film and its releases to DVD have caused. Is Decker a replicant? (my take is no, but he might be gay LOL). Originally designed with voice-over? Unicorn dreams?
And Scott may say one thing but I think he was messing with everyone.
There is supposed to be a 25th Anniversary “Final Cut” completely controlled by Scott — if anyone has it I would be interested to know how it holds up.
Finally, some good news !
Awesome! “Master and Commander” was one of the handful of movies I’ve bothered to see at a theater in the past 20 years.
Russell Crowe’s performance was wonderful.
