“We have to get rid of the chairman of the Republican National Committee and put somebody in there who can keep his foot out of his mouth and make the case against the affront to our liberties both economic and personal.”

Steele was an excellent choice for RNC chairman. If you knew anything about the RNC, you would know that.

If Sarah replaces him, she will be the democrats worst nightmare.

You’re attitude is so wrong...she has outgrown Alaska. She is now a national player, and she can’t fight nationally from Alaska.

All I’ve heard from the conservative talking heads is that she has not done her “homework” and because of that, cannot be seriously considered as Presidential material.

This move allows her to circulate internationally, spend time on conservative media, deal with business organizations, and give speeches nationwide. She is incredibly bright, all she needs is the exposure to prove it. Governor of Alaska won’t cut it.

As for letting down her constituents, she has done more to promote her state in two years than probably any Alaskan governor ever (does anyone outside of Alaska remember the last governor?). How could any of her constituents that supported her to start with feel shortchanged.

I don’t know what the next few years hold for Sarah, but I hope it is all good. As far as I’m concerned, she is a national treasure, and the whole nation needs her leadership, not just Alaska.

This is a brilliant move that I hope is her first step to the Presidency.

Oh I do not agree. Not with main stream conservatives and the moderates. And a candidate cannot win without both of these factions.

“...the proof is in what Alaska’s Republican senator had to say about it.
Senator Murkowski, by far the most popular politician in Alaska (out-performing Palin by nearly 20 points) said this:

Rb’s summation of Murkowski, “ I hate that uppity bitch. She ran against my daddy and beat him out for Alaskan Governor. How dare some little fisherman and roughnecks take on the Murkowski Machine in Alaska.

“Oh,,,the liberal press is on the phone. They are calling me because they are astounded by my credentials as a Republican and want my take on Sara Palin because they respect me. They are not calling because the Leftists in the media hate Palin. They really want my opinion and think I have credibility. They really love me.”

If the only way that we can “win” is to tear down any true conservative candidate and to run to the left, then why fight it? The people have spoken and they demand Marxism.

Palin could never win by playing the game by the current rules. No conservative can. If a conservative can’t win, then the GOP can’t win. Perhaps she will change the rules a bit with this move. Maybe she won’t. At this point, we have nothing to lose. Marxism is finally burying us, as predicted about 50 years ago.

We need someone to convince those blue-collar and cubicle-dweller Democrats that they really are Conservatives. That will take someone to change the paradigm. Personally, I think a third party is the only answer. Give the GOP to the country club types. Cut the Dems down to the academics, looters, and other true believers of Marxism. A third party could take the rest—and the rest make up what’s great about America.

Romney, Huckabee, Giuliani are firmly entrenched in the old paradigm.

Jindal and all the other “young blood” types lack the charisma to be a political game-changer.

Since no one knows what her immediate plans are, if she will run, what the public response will be if she does, and if she will win....then what is the purpose in your essay?

And what does it actually produce?

Who is your candidate? Make your case.

THere is a vast ground between a conservative and a marxist,,and it is where alot of people reside. You are presenting a false choice.

Can I be honest?

She can be *easily* replaced...Of course the party groupies and political insiders won't like it.

Let her go take care of her family or whatever...

There are others out here much more capable, that can deliver a speech much better, and get the attention that is desperately needed...Someone that will not hold back, someone willing to die for this country if need be.

There are 300 million people in this country. Should be easy to find a military veteran, with 10x the life experience of Palin, and a much higher IQ.

She no doubt made a good figure head, and state governor, she photograph well, but America need more than a politician or pretty face. America needs more then another wealthy lawyer who's spent years in politics. Enough of that sh*t.

America needs more than another political state governor waiting to be elected by his groupies and political insiders. Enough.

Bring in an *outsider*, with *no* political ties to the *insiders*.

Someone who is not in political debt like most state governors are. Enough!

Someone the American people can will support after seeing their record and background. Someone really razor tough, a podium kicking SOB that is real.

Someone totally outspoken that will tell it like it is, and not hold back.

Someone that will pound the podium and demand our borders be secured before our country is totally lost.

Someone that will publicly MOCK the leftist, and continue doing this.

Someone that will stand up to the podium and tell countries like Korea, if elected, if they so much as launch *Anything* in our direction, it will be deemed an act of war, and we will respond overwhelmingly without hesitation.

Someone that will tell the world, America is BACK, and were done taking shit off the UN, A-rabs and any other country. Someone will to *take* our OWN oil and resources.

More honesty?

This would likely need to get really ugly, and violence would likely occur in an effort to save this country from those destroying it.

Someone willing to ration everything if need be, for the cause, and meet with those willing to PUBLICLY reaffirm, on camera, and tell us they are a friend of the U.S. and we do the same back. A complete new start.

Someone to stand up and tell Mexico, we are no longer subsidizing half their stinking lawless, lazy population while they choke off our schools, jails, social services and jobs etc.

We need someone to tell the world bankers, and super wealthy insiders that assisted in this epic economic disaster to f-off, literally. Then tell them we no longer owe them our freedom, our economy, or our country. They don't like? To GD bad.

We've had enough of the super wealthy, political insiders and lawyers running the show to last America for the next 10 generations.

It's killing our country.

America needs brand new leadership, not business as usual, not someone that is bought and paid for by the insiders, D.C. groupies, and and their twin beltway political parties.

Their shelf life has expired.

It can be done, with the right person, and support. It's been done before, and it can be done again.

It would take sacrifice, it would be hard, painful, unexpected, and likely dangerous, as there are those that want us to continue down our current path and continue the incremental destruction of America.

It's no longer business as usual. We continue down our current course, and America will eventually be completely devoured by it's enemies here and abroad.

I’m not your monkey on a leash.

lol..relax, Bob. In your opening piece you wrote that we should all "get on with identifying the candidates who can win in ‘12." I merely asked if you've identified any. Quite on topic. Your hypersensitivity and reluctance to answer my straightforward question is revealing.

But I'll re-ask: What liberal RINO POS do you like for '12?

The problem with Boehner is not one that can be fixed by the occasional stand and attention to an issue.
The problem is he's like Bob Dole all over again.
That is something that can't be fixed.
He lacks both the charisma and the will to be a national spokesman for the GOP cause. Mike Pence has it. John Boehner doesn't.

I'd love to see Newt take over the RNC, and then perhaps run for President in 2012.
The problem with Newt is he is always on the verge of contemplating such things, but then never comes through. He makes Fred Thompson look decisive. Perhaps Newt feels more effective and free outside of power than inside. Sort of like Sarah Palin beginning in two weeks.

Not with main stream conservatives and the moderates. And a candidate cannot win without both of these factions.

That's fine -- then let those factions throw in with the Dems or try to hide from their legislative agemda that will chew them up and spit them out. They get to learn the hard way.

i can back off a little about reading your motives but still
.... i didnt care much for mccain but knew i had to vote for him and refrained from criticzing him on FR in any signifcant degree

glad to hear you would support SP—sorry didnt see that post of yours—but maybe if you could back off some of the unneeded scrutiny she would do even better

look, if she messes up campaigning in 2010 (truly messes up- not by MSM standards) and her candidstes dont do better with her help, then questiong like yours makes more sense.

But to publicly raise doubts 2 days into what will be at least 17 month battle is very unhelpful, so i disagree with you but acknowledge that your posts are not in the same league as another on FR who should go on vacation. Right now helping SP still hepls Mitt or whoever else you may favor. Suppose you like Pence and SP creates conservative firestorm but doesnt want to run for Pres, then your man Pence benefits and I vote for him

The artillery is not being removed from the field, it is being moved to higher ground which affords greater flexibility and destructive firepower onto the enemy lines.

It's not the return fire from the enemy lines that Palin will have to watch out for. It's the attacks from behind by members of her own party that will keep her from the White House.

You’ll be able to spot the realistic, clear thinking conservatives because they see and admit this early so we can put it behind us get on with identifying the candidates who can win in ‘12.

So ... the "realistic, clear thinking conservatives" are the ones who form fatalistic knee jerk reactions within 48 hours of a major announcement? We'll have to agree to disagree on that one. I'll be watching Sarah Palin to see what her ambitions are. And if they are honorable and conservative, this premature resignation won't mean diddly to anyone. Reserve your judgements, FRiends. Wait, watch, and be prepared.
