Starting over
The massive English Longbow I bought almost ten years ago
Nearly broke a rib trying to brace it
72lb draw at 28 inches
My draw length is 32
Well, not today
This is not the 60lb bow I shot last weekend
By comparison, that was a walk in the park
Just like the quote from twenty plus years back
Made by a recent college grad who just entered the work force
"Just when you think you have it all figured out,
The world comes and makes you a freshman again."
So I shelve the memories of 2 inch groups at 20 yards
and I put into perspective the even better performance
I had in 1983 with my compound bow
Back to basics, and a return to the rudiments
I have been there once
I can be there again

Good afternoon, GeeBee. Thank you.
Hope you are planning a fun Monday afternoon.
We are draining Marissa's pool.
It is too hot to spend any time outdoors.
We will be taking a vacation in a couple of weeks;
it needs to be drained before we leave.
Have a Marvelous Monday.

The Genesis of the Butterfly |
|
|
|
The dawn is smiling on the dew that covers The tearful roses; lo, the little lovers That kiss the buds, and all the flutterings In jasmine bloom, and privet, of white wings, That go and come, and fly, and peep and hide, With muffled music, murmured far and wide. Ah, the Spring time, when we think of all the lays That dreamy lovers send to dreamy mays, Of the fond hearts within a billet bound, Of all the soft silk paper that pens wound, The messages of love that mortals write Filled with intoxication of delight, Written in April and before the May time Shredded and flown, playthings for the wind's playtime, We dream that all white butterflies above, Who seek through clouds or waters souls to love, And leave their lady mistress in despair, To flit to flowers as kinder and more fair, Are but torn love-letters, that through the skies Flutter, and float, and change to butterflies

Good afternoon! Am loving all the beautiful butterflies you've posted, and thanks for the compliments on this morning's opening graphic & music.
Hope everyone had a great weekend (hate that yours was so HOT, Amy). We came back from a weekend getaway in the Hill Country and found it had rained HERE while we were gone!
Dutchess, I am so very sorry to hear the sad news about Giz (you have mail) :(
Meg, what beautiful hummingbirds you posted throughout yesterday's thread! And your hummingbird last night, Amy, was also gorgeous!
Looked out the window to the courtyard a few minutes ago
and saw this beautiful black butterfly enjoying my red
verbenas on the patio table. Was surprised he was
still there when I finally I found the camera!

I was sorting out some of our stuff the other day and came across an old longbow in the ‘invaluable’, seemingly always packed and stored treasures of my life, (I.E. the Junk) that was from my youth. It is still marked as 5.357 st./ 711.2mm, (I bought the bow while in the Navy while in Scotland at the sub base.) It took me time to realize the marking meant 5.357 stones (14 pounds to a stone, so its a 75 # bow and the 711.2 mm comes out to 28”) It was my hunting bow while living in Montana, and I designed and fabricated my own sight pin system for it. You now have my wondering if I might still be able to hit the target with this thing? I will see if I can find the arrows now, they ought to still be in the aluminum tube storage quiver/cylinder, ‘IF’ I can remember where that might be found!!!
