GREEN BAY, WI (WXOW) - 10-year-old Kennedy Corpus had a really good excuse for missing the last day of school-a note from the President of the United States.
Kennedy's father took her to the President's town hall in Green Bay Thursday. When John Corpus was called on to ask a question, he mentioned that his daughter was missing her last day of fourth grade to see the speech today.
"I hope she doesn't get in trouble," Mr. Corpus told the president. "Do you need me to write a note?" the President asked and then proceeded to ask the girls name, take out a pen from his pocket, rip the corner of a sheet of paper at the podium, and then begin writing. The audience applauded and Mr. Obama went on to answer the father's question.
Later, the proud fourth grader showed off her valuable excuse note, which read, "To Kennedy's teacher - Please excuse Kennedy's absence. She's with me. (signed) Barack Obama."

A nice move, a warm move. It also shows that Obama CAN react quickly on his feet, without TOTUS telling him what to do.

Who is still in school in mid-June? Everywhere I’ve lived, children are finished with school by late May.

Snow Days
Alabama, Florida and Indiana. Kids around here (in Fla) were out before Memorial Day.

Wow, I guess it does have to do with snow days, but I think we only had 2 or 3 up here in Pa. Doesn’t seem like enough to account for such a big difference. I guess state school boards determine holidays and inservice days? Maybe the schools up here have more days off during the year. Seems weird.
