I learned there were words when my husband passed away. The funeral home was going to enclose the Obituary in plastic and I could choose what I wanted on the other side, so I chose the words to Taps and it has a picture of the Tomb of the Unknown and a flag at half staff and a serviceman with the bugle to his lips for Taps. I gave some to friends and family and kept a few for me.

WE’ve had a good day. Stayed home and did a little tidying up.
I didn’t get a nap today .... will probably not get one either Thursday or Friday.
Tomorrow, I need to get to Sears for a Father’s Day something for my hubby.
Friday PrissyMissy goes back to the doc. Sure hope her ears are clear.
Maybe I will get a nap on Sunday. LOL

I first learned about the words (second verse) from a reading assignment when I was in grade school. I'm sure that story wouldn't make it into one of today's readers.

Busy week for you. Good thing you got to sleep a bit later today. ;) I hope you can sleep in a bit tomorrow.
Oh good grief, thanks for reminding me. I need to go get something for Father's day too. LOL!!
I hope Marissa's appointment goes well tomorrow and she gets the all clear for her ears.
With Booboo home sick, I sneaked a nap in today ;) Then I had to go into overtime to get chores done. She has one more week to go then school will be out for summer. Yay!

It's cocktail time here in Maui. I was going to make Mango Margaritas but settled for a screwdriver. LOL I usually just have my glass of red wine for medicinal purposes. (yeah, right!)

It is strange that I learned that it had words when my husband died. I bet he knew. Maybe it just never came up that he would have told me, which surprises me. This is the way mine was printed on that one side of the obituary.

I have to admit that I don’t think I’ve heard it with the Bagpipes and it is beautiful. Is that the same one you post on all your military posts? Sorry I hadn’t listened before but no matter how its played, it makes me teary-eyed as I think it does to all who love and honor our Military. And I appreciate that~~~thanks.
And as you said before, no, we wouldn’t find that in a student’s book today. What a shame that children aren’t being taught to be patriotic about our country and our service men and women.
