AT THE FRONT LINES IN ITALY, January 10, 1944 - In this war I have known a lot of officers who were loved and respected by the soldiers under them. But never have I crossed the trail of any man as beloved as Capt. Henry T. Waskow of Belton, Texas....

Memorial Day tribute to my Uncle and all who served and continue to serve this great nation.

Read it before and it touches me every time. Men to base your life on, both of them. Ernie Pyle, a real reporter(not journalists but reporter of the first water)and the Captain, the man we all hope to be when we grow up, the one we see when we watch John Wayne fight his way across the screen. God bless 'em all, the ones who died in a blaze of glory, the ones who died without much glory at all and the ones who died in obscurity, still waiting for their bones to be found. They all gave everything a person can give so we could all remain free.

Their reward? A generation so full of sh** they voted Bozo into office the very antithesis of what these brave men stood for. May we kick his tail out of office soon.

Thanks. The amazing thing is all of these so called reporters study Ernie Pyle. If you ever want to get under their skin (and why wouldn't you) just let them know that Ernie would have been ashamed of thier reporting. Gets 'em every time.

It is the camera angle that interests me. I can’t figure out if the body is up on a hill and the photographer took the picture from a standing position, or if the photographer got down and took the picture from ground level.
