Please keep chat and one-liners to a minimum. This thread is intended to be a one-stop-shop for all of todays NEWS and info related to the Mexican Swine Flu.
To make it faster for everyone to catch up on the actual NEWS, PLEASE PLEASE minimize chat, jokes, bashing the administration, soapboxes, and so forth. These live threads can become useless monster threads if everyone throws in their one-liners, and we all have 'em! So let's try to keep this thread useful for the latest NEWS.
Thank you all in advance.
As a mtter of fact...Tamaflu does work. Texas Gov. Perry ordered over 37,000 courses for the state.

CDC saying the most important thing is to wash your hands. I’m glad now I disinfected my office on Friday.
Thanks for the info. I should have known.
I’m sure Obozo will push this on wedensday during his 100 days BS talk. Health care for all is coming.
I’m using “Mexiflu,” for short, another poster’s suggestion.
Biden his caddy?
LOL! I hope you don't routinely rely on your neighbors for favors. I have a sneaking suspicion they aren't going to feel very generous toward you in the near future.
I think so.
Summers was suppose to be, but he fell asleep during Fox News Sunday...lol..along with the rest of the country.
I know it doesn’t sound like the best way to treat your neighbors but honestly...I don’t trust a single thing my government tells me and most certainly not what Mexico tells me so I am playing it safe for my own health and my family’s.
I can send an FTD when they get the all clear ;)
For those old time Freepers it seems like deva vu all over again.
There was a day in 2003....

If George Bush had done the same thing..the press would be up in arms! But not a peep from them so far after causing a stir yesterday about Obama.
The American press is nothing but an Obama Cult now...lol.
Or his double is. wonder how many he's got
It started out rather muted, and sounded sort of tinfoilish. It was called GRID originally, Gay Related Immune Disorder. Nobody really knew what it was at first, whether it was some sort of cancer, a combination of venereal diseases, a lifestyle issue pertaining to substance abuse or what, so there was some generalized concern, that morphed into near panic among regular folks, worrying about getting it from toilet seats or from a drinking glass, that sort of thing. The main fear was getting it from a blood transfusion, and politics stepped in, dragging out the exclusion of high-risk populations from donation, and screening supply for the virus. The full-blown panic in the US was and is among that high-risk population, mostly gay men and drug users who are infected by sharing dirty needles. Other parts of the world, primarily Africa, are being hit hard by the disease, which is transmitted via heterosexual intercourse. Why the difference? Seems to be related to circumcision of males, but that’s still up in the air, as far as I know. The US, Israel and certain Arab countries are the only ones practicing widespread male circumcision, so that notion appears a little suspect. Back to behavioral excesses, imho.
Maybe Obozo will get a perfect score today like Little Kimmy in NK does.... (s)
Interesting.
Not really. It wasn't until several years later when groups like ACTUP and other gay activists started to sound the alarm because AIDS was beginning to ravage the gay community. Then, the the "aids epidemic" as it became to be known really turned into a nightly story. Remember, when AIDS first came on the scene, CNN was in it's infancy and the predominance of the 24 hour news cycle was yet in place.
It wasn't until the late 80's that the scope of HIV really was appreciated. And, I don't believe it was until Magic Johnson's infection did most people believe that it wasn't a disease that was confined to only the gay male population.
