What a beautiful day the Lord has made! What a wonderful gathering of Freepers. The best people I know are Freepers ... and it regaled my soul to share a picnic with some of the best. Some drove from as far away as two and a half hours, others from within twenty minutes, but we had a great get together and even got to see Tea Party signs from Wednesday!
To those pinged to the original thread (http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/2198470/posts): we missed those who couldn't make it ... and there was plenty of food! [Poor New Jersey Bob missed some really tasty BBQ with goooood sauces, and a delectible sandwich ring made with egg bread!] Maybe next time, Friends. We even had entertainment ... well, sort of, if you consider two too liberal 'obamouses' in a pavillion full of conservative cats 'entertainment'. Yes, we had two Obamanoids there! I must confess I invited them because they're relatives who live in KNoxoville and were going to be in the area so I felt they could be sacrificed for Freeper practice.
Bert will be along soon to post a few pix from the event.

In compliance with your recommendation, we had our first East Tennessee FRee Republic Convention.
We had a picnic and it was great!!
Thank you very much for hosting this picnic. I had a really good time conversing with some of my cohorts in conservatism.
Woo hoo!! Sounds like y’all had a great time!! Great pics!! Hope it’s the first of many good meetings!!
I really enjoyed meeting you all. We’ll have to get together again sometime.
Great pix, bert! ... You’ve still got my keys. LOL
Dude, you’re killing me.... I suppose that next month, you’ll send me a message to rub in my face the fact that I won’t be able to attend Memphis in May! ;-(
It was truly a great pleasure to meet all of our attendees, m’Lady. But I wish I’b brought that birthday cake Tennessee Nana and I looked at before coming over. ... I love birthday cake, so much so that my family had an ocassional ritual of buying a birthday cake and writing a ficticious name on it just to cut one up and devour it; I got it started by bringing home a cake one time that was not picked up the day it was scheduled and it went on sale the next day for half price at the mega-grocery, it had our neighbor’s name on it. ‘Happy Birthday Nan’ has a special place in my heart, er, should I say stomach.

well, you know we were thinking of you. :)
It was just too easy.....
Just got settled in here at home. Made it home before dark so I had to get into my funky gardening shoes and clothes and go look at my lettuce, etc. It hasn’t grown much since yesterday, but I like to watch it anyway (LOL).
What a wonderful day!! It’s nice to actually meet people I have followed on here; some I have actually followed their posts and comments, with great admiration, for years. When Tennessee Nana posts, I listen, and it was GREAT to actually meet this lady today.
MHG you are a VERY SPECIAL person to do this. Keep in mind (those not attending), this location is very near where a bunch of patriots (before the American Revolution) became fed up with the British masters, and formed their own state, “The State of Franklin.” That symbolic comparison didn’t escape me today, when I had the pleasure of being in the company of some very dedicated folks who LOVE this country — will fight, with whatever they have — to preserve it.
Good to see Bert again, and I absolutely love NellieMae (the baby among us) and Jaycee.
Pinging you Diana, so you can see what you have to look forward to when you move to Tennessee. Billhilly comes through here on ocassion, maybe we can get him to show at one of these functions (when the crappie ain’t biting). And Jaz is my buddy so he gets pinged just for the heck of it!!!
Thank you, Jim Robinson, for suggesting this, and for giving us FreeRepublic. You have led to the enlightenment of more than you’ll ever know, the exposure to knowledge the media has decided we don’t need.
You would have been proud to hear NellieMae today. Just imagine how many (much younger than I and many freepers) future patriots you have helped shape. I am always amazed to read the posts of the young people on this site. They are the future.
Hopefully freepers all over the country will do this.
