TEA PARTY U.S.A. - It's about YOU the HARD WORKING TAX PAYERS!
My thoughts ^ | April 15, 2009 | Cindy

Posted on 04/15/2009 1:14:15 PM PDT by Cindy

Today, the voice of Americans was heard.

The Tea Party U.S.A. is not a one day national event -- it's the continuation of a chain of events and activism that will strengthen our country.

We are doing this primarily without main-stream media coverage.

That's o.k.

Your voice is being heard without the main-stream media.

Keep it up my fellow, patriotic Americans.

President Obama, Speaker Pelosi, and others owe 1.2 Million Tea Party Patriots an Apology

President Obama, Speaker Pelosi, and others owe 1.2 Million Tea Party Patriots an Apology.

The American people deserve better from their Elected Representatives and are beginning to demand It.

Among the political class it has apparently become acceptable, and even fashionable, for American politicians from the President on down to mock the citizens they represent. In a development that can only further denigrate the discourse necessary to any effective democracy, politicians and the “serious” news media are now mocking citizens regularly and with impunity. Supported by mainstream journalists on MSNBC and CNN, who themselves use sexual slurs on national television to mock and attack the same citizens, the politicians openly demonstrate their feelings of superiority over those they were elected to represent. They now candidly express their disdain of a significant portion of the American population without the threat of reprisal by the mainstream media.

On the morning of the April 15th Tea Parties, the American public was informed on national news by one of the President’s economic advisers, Jared Bernstein, that the President was “unaware” of the Tea Parties taking place in over 850 cities across the nation! On April 29th, the President informed a Town Hall meeting in St. Louis that he had just now become aware of the Tea Parties, but only from “certain news channels on which I’m not very popular.” He referred disdainfully to the one million plus Patriots who came out in legitimate and constitutionally protected demonstrations of free speech on April 15th as “folks waving tea bags around...” While he collects royalties (last year about $2.6 million) from his books, “The Audacity of Hope” and “Dreams From My Father”, the President has the audacity to imply that we the people have nothing legitimate to say about high taxes, wasteful spending and corporate bailouts. The President also seems to believe that it is appropriate to mock millions of Americans who are expressing their opinions publicly in a peaceful manner. Perhaps he feels that by mocking the Tea Parties and the Patriots who attended, that he can marginalizes them. But we know that real Patriots cannot be marginalized, and that they will continue to make their voices heard in ever greater numbers,” says Elsie Gufler , San Mateo County Tea Party Coordinator and Tea Party Patriots National Leadership Council Member.

This sort of condescending approach to the Grassroots is a hallmark of politicians all across this land. We, the Grassroots are mocked by the President as “folks waving tea bags around”! Discussion of our legitimate complaints and concerns is avoided through the use of derogatory and condescending rhetoric. We’ve heard similar rhetoric from the Speaker Nancy Pelosi who says the Tea Parties are an “Astroturf initiative,” and “contrived events backed by those who like tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans.” Rep. Jan Schakowsky (IL), called people who attended the Tea Parties “despicable” and “shameful,” “corporate interests” and said the events were created by “Republican lobbyists and politicians”. At every level, the President and the majority of politicians nationally refuse to discuss the issues head on, and refuse to acknowledge the fact that a huge, non-partisan, Grassroots movement has coalesced around limited government, fiscal responsibility and lower taxes. As politicians, they are simply interested only in taking and spending more and more of our money, and in leaving our children to inherit the burdens of their excess. They mock, deride and oppose anyone who objects to what they are doing!

At this time, the President, and all other politicians who demeaned the protestors, Speaker Pelosi (CA), and Rep. Schakowsky (IL) included, owe 1.2 million Patriots an apology. If our politicians are truly interested in dialogue with the people they claim to represent, such a dialogue must begin with respect for the citizens of this country. That show of respect will begin when the politicians acknowledge that mocking and demeaning well-intentioned, peaceful Tea Party Patriots who love their country is the height of arrogance, and a terrible mistake. The American people deserve better from their elected representatives, and they are beginning to demand it!

This is a time for courage
http://blogs.lubbockonline.com/conservative/2009/04/15/this-is-a-time-for-courage/ ^
Posted on May 4, 2009 8:44:42 AM PDT by Lennyq

Ladies and gentlemen, This is a Time For Courage.

We are gathered here today on the Plains of West Texas in common purpose. We are here to remind our government that this is our country, We the People are still in charge, and our government is still our servant and not our master.

Our Nation’s founding document is The Declaration of Independence. It tells us that our rights come from God and not from a small group of Elite men and women.

Our Constitution starts with the words “We the People.” Our Constitution was written for ordinary Americans like you and me. Our Constitution protects us from our government and from the politicians.

Our President has complained that our Constitution gives ordinary people too much protection.

He has ridiculed us for the high value we place on our Bibles, our guns, our personal property, and our Liberty . He tells us we do not deserve to keep the money we have earned.

We are told freedom has not worked. Personal responsibility, free enterprise, and Liberty have not been effective. Our government will now make more of our decisions for us.

Other than our military, I can think of not one government agency I have ever found to be helpful.

And speaking of our military, how about those Navy Seals blowing the heads off those three terrorist pirates? Don’t you just wish our entire government would function with such efficiency, professionalism, and courage?

We watch in disbelief as our beloved United States is weakened economically, militarily, and morally by a Radical President and his eager accomplices.

What has taken generations to build is systematically destroyed and replaced with the same Socialist Evil that brought poverty, destruction, and despair to untold hundreds of millions.

The problems we face today have occurred because we have not defended our Nation from Socialism. For too long we have allowed the wrong people to make the worst possible decisions.

The Bible warns us of class hatred. The Radical leadership of our government daily fans the evil flames of class envy.

Our European and Canadian friends beg us to not make the same Socialist mistakes they did.

The President of the European Union warned our President that his Socialist economic plans are taking the World down the “road to Hell.”

The path to power for Socialists includes taking God and guns from the citizens. Without spiritual and physical protection, people cannot defend themselves and their Liberty . They soon become slaves.

We are angered that our President apologizes for the exceptionalism and heroism of the United States of America . We are deeply troubled he told others the United States is not a Christian nation.

We are angered that we have been called cowards and racists because we oppose Socialism. Socialism is not racial. Socialism is an equal opportunity destroyer.

We are angered that a recent Department of Homeland Security report has singled out our military men and women who are returning home as being radical threats.

The report also characterizes you and me as right-wing extremists and radicals because we favor smaller government and lower taxes.

You and I are average citizens who believe just like most of our fellow Americans. We want our government to leave us alone and to keep its hands off our money, our religion, or guns, our private property, and our lives.

We demand that our government stop spending money it does not have.

Stop confiscating our money and private property.

Stop printing money.

Stop subsidizing Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and the other failed financial institutions and companies.

Mr. President, stop appointing tax cheats to positions of power and influence.

Mr. President, secure our borders.

Mr. President, do not divert money from our missile defense, F-22 Raptors, and other vital military equipment. This gives encouragement, aid, and comfort to our enemies. Protecting us is your number one job.

Mr. President, do not give voting rights to millions of illegal aliens and felons. You have no more right to create new voters for your benefit than you do to use our money to buy the 2010 and 2012 Elections.

We gather peacefully here today because there is a growing concern for what our government is doing to us and to our future. We fear for the very survival of our Republic.

Yet there is much to make us hopeful and to fill our hearts with optimism and courage. This is still our country!

The Constitution of the Unites States belongs to We the People. Our Constitution still protects us from our government.

Call every possible elected official, including our President, Vice President, and the Speaker of the House.

Demand that they stop stealing our money and giving it to ACORN and their other political supporters in order to buy votes.

Call Senators Cornyn and Hutchison, and Representative Neugebauer. Thank them. Urge them to do much more. Remind them now is a time for action and not for campaigning.

Volunteer to work on our 2010 Census. Confront ACORN. Keep our Census honest. We must not allow our President to take control of our Census for his political advantage.

We must replace as much of our Far Left Congress as possible in 2010. Get involved. Do not let the ACORN control our 2010 Election.

Talk with someone every day who does not understand our nation’s history and our great heritage. Tell them why the United States is a good and prosperous nation. It still remains that brightly lit city on the hill. It still is the best hope for all mankind.

Talk with all of the young people you can find. They are our future. Many do not understand what they have and that their future is being destroyed.

Encourage your elected State officials to pass legislation that will protect us from our Federal government. Governor Rick Perry and others are doing that right now for Texas . Thank them and pray for them.

This is a time for strong peaceful action. Let us pray that We the People can quickly return our government to its Constitutional responsibilities.

Our President and Congress were elected to be our servants and not our masters.

May God help our President and Congress to quickly realize the error of their ways and stop their reckless and unwarranted spending, cut our taxes, and reduce the size of our Federal bureaucracy.

If they do not, may God grant us the courage and determination to vote them out of power next year.

May God richly bless and protect each of you, and our Constitution, as together we pursue Liberty !

Delivered at the Lubbock , Texas , TEA Party

National Tea Party Leadership Team Accepts President Obama’s Invitation
Parcbench.com ^ | Wednesday, April 30, 2009
Posted on April 29, 2009 12:42:59 PM PDT by kristinn

New York, New York – April 29th, 2009 - The National Leadership Team of the Nationwide Tea Party Coalition (http://www.nationwideteapartycoalition.com) today accepted President Obama`s invitation “to have a serious conversation about how we are going to cut our health care costs down over the long term, how we are going to stabilize Social Security.”

The invitation was extended by the President at a Town Hall Meeting held in Arnold, Missouri today (http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0409/21870.html). Michael Patrick Leahy, a member of the National Leadership Team of the Nationwide Tea Party Coalition, said “ We want to broaden the scope to address the President`s runaway march to socialist-statism, and the rampant across the board irresponsible spending he is promoting with his $787 Billion Stimulus Plan and his $1 Trillion Annual Deficit, his takeover of General Motors, Chrysler and the Banks .”

Kellen Giuda, organizer of the New York City Tea party attended by 12,000 and of Parcbench (http://www.parcbench.com) said, “I think a constructive dialogue with the President would be a great opportunity for him to acknowledge that, yes, many Americans have a problem with the way Washington is handling our taxpayer dollars and also that we are concerned about health care and social security reform. I am happy he is open to a discussion. The Tea Parties are protesting against fiscal irresponsibility and any dialogue we can have will hopefully bring a better public understanding of our country`s finances. Health care and social security reform is a large concern to us.”

The National Leadership Team of the Nationwide Tea Party Coalition includes 25 of the more than 900 local organizers of the April 15, 2009 Tax Day Tea Parties held across the country, which were attended by more than 1 million Americans. Members of the National Leadership Team includes Judson Phillips, organizer of the Nashville Tea Party attended by 10,000, James Dickey, organizer of the Dallas Tea Party, attended by 5,000, and JoAnn Abbot, organizer of the Washington, DC Tea Party attended by more than 3,000. Tea Party Express Rolling Through the Country

The “Our Country Deserves Better PAC” is organizing a “Tea Party Express” tour across the country later this summer. The group is planning tea parties in cities from coast to coast, culminating in our 9-12 March on Washington. Check out their website here, and take a look at the route. Pretty cool.

Gadsden Flags Flying Off the Shelves in Support of the Tea Party Tax Protest
Marketwire ^ | April 16, 2009
Posted on May 9, 2009 12:21:19 PM PDT by Comparative Advantage

Waving signs with anti-tax slogans and carrying American flags, crowds gathered in support of less government spending and lower taxes in numerous cities yesterday. The “tea party” element of the gatherings was meant to reference the Boston Tea Party, a pre-Revolutionary War event in which colonists dumped tea in the Boston Harbor to protest the British king’s tax on what was a colonial staple. Many of the flags flown yesterday were historical and reminiscent of the American Revolution.

“Tea Parties” Increase Sales for Flags

One of the flags seen in abundance at these “Tea Parties” is the Gadsden flag, an historical American flag with a yellow field depicting a rattlesnake coiled and ready to strike. Positioned below the snake is the legend “DONT TREAD ON ME” [sic]. The flag was designed by and is named after American general and statesman Christopher Gadsden. It was also used by The United States Marine Corps as an early motto flag.

For many the “Tea Parties” are very political, for others the events are purely business — and really good business. Flag companies and other retailers carrying patriotic items have seen these flags fly off the shelves. According to Kerry McCoy, owner of FlagandBanner.com in Little Rock, Arkansas, “I wish I would have thought of it sooner and bought all the Gadsden Flags on the planet. This week Arkansas’ FlagandBanner.com along with every other flag dealer in America has sold out of Gadsden flags and First Navy Jack flags in protest of potential tax increases.” McCoy further stated, “If the flag had a snake or cannon on it, we sold out.”

The American Family Association is now sponsoring Independence Day tea parties in more than 640 U.S. cities in all 50 states.

The Taxed Enough Already, or TEA, parties will be held at 12 p.m. in front of city halls across the nation.

“Our goal is simply to keep the grassroots organizations mobilized,” said Michael DePrimo, special counsel to AFA President Tim Wildmon. “We don’t want people to think of it as a one-time event and then have it fall by the wayside.”

AFA is hosting a Tea Party Day website so volunteer organizers may register their protests.

The group encourages tea party attendees to bring cell phones and call the president, 202-456-1414, and Congress, 202-224-3121, while attending the rallies.

DePrimo told WND the recent Tax Day protests were extremely popular and successful. A new poll reveals many Americans support beliefs of tax protest organizers.

GOP govs plan Tea Party sequel

Hoping to recapture the grassroots energy of last month’s “tea parties,” Republican Govs. Mark Sanford of South Carolina and Rick Perry of Texas will host a tele-town hall Thursday that’s being dubbed “Tea Party 2.0.”

The Republican Governors Association said it is expecting 30,000 people to participate in the town hall, which will take place roughly one month after the much-publicized anti-tax tea party rallies held in hundreds of locations across the country on April 15, the tax filing deadline.

Sanford and Perry will each speak for several minutes before opening up the town hall to up to an hour-long question and answer session.

RGA Executive Director Nick Ayers said that while the effort Thursday will be on a smaller scale than the April tea party rallies, it still represents “a great opportunity to mobilize that support.”

Both Perry and Sanford are favorites among the tax-averse tea party attendees.

“How to Stop a Healthcare Hijack”
By J. Robert Smith

SNIPPET: “Stop an arcane parliamentary maneuver - “reconciliation” - and the odds improve at stopping the Democrats march toward socialized medicine. But Republicans can’t do it; not alone, anyway. It’s up to the legions of Tea Partiers and average Americans to win the fight.”

SNIPPET: “Healthcare is in need of reform - free market reform - but it’s not in crisis. All Americans are entitled to an open, transparent legislative process. But it’s not Senate Republicans who can make the process fair or stop the hijacking of the nation’s healthcare. That’s up to Americans — Tea Party Americans — who prize freedom. “

Mission Viejo ‘Tea Party’ to oppose initiatives set [CA]

MISSION VIEJO, CA – Organizers of an April 15 “Tea Party” are planning a follow-up rally on May 18 to oppose the propositions facing California voters the next day.

The propositions are required to implement the February state budget deal.

The Saddleback Republican Assembly, which is organizing the rally, is targeting tax increases contained in that deal. The group’s president, Michael Ferrall, said the rally is also a protest against what he views as excessive state spending.

“It’s just a matter of philosophical principle, from a conservative perspective,” Ferrall said.

Prop. 1A foes protest ahead of election
By Hiram Soto Staff Writer
2:00 a.m. May 17, 2009

DOWNTOWN SAN DIEGO — Shrugging off warnings of deep cuts in state services and a gaping budget deficit, protesters turned out yesterday on the last weekend before Tuesday’s special election to rally against Proposition 1A, the most contentious of the six state ballot measures.

The crowd of about 200 gathered at a so-called “tea party” at Spanish Landing Park on Harbor Drive to protest the measure, which proposes a two-year extension of temporary increases in sales taxes, car registrations and income tax.

Thousands of people in San Diego County have participated in similar protests against taxes and government spending policies as part of “tea parties” around the nation.

“We are tired of politicians raising taxes every time they get into financial trouble,” said Leslie Eastman, an event organizer and co-founder of the Southern California Tax Revolt Coalition.

“They should be focusing on cutting spending and not raising taxes in the middle of a financial crisis.”

Supporters of Proposition 1A acknowledge the measure is not a solution to the budget crisis but rather a way to prevent the state from implementing deep cuts to a wide range of programs and services.

“Those who are arguing otherwise frankly are not living in reality,” said spokeswoman Julie Soderlund from the Budget Reform Now Coalition, an umbrella organization that supports propositions 1A through 1F.

Proposition 1A attempts to smooth out the state’s volatile revenue picture by imposing restraints on future spending and requiring that surplus revenues in good years be placed in a reserve fund to be used during economic downturns.

It also would give the governor greater authority to reduce certain types of spending without legislative approval. Its most controversial feature is a two-year extension of $16 billion in temporary tax increases that are scheduled to expire in 2011.

The other measures propose borrowing against future lottery revenue and tapping funds set aside for other programs, among other things. Recent polls showed all the budget measures failing.

Even if the measures pass, California still would face a $15 billion deficit for the fiscal year that begins in July. If the measures fail, the deficit would be least $21 billion.

After yesterday’s demonstration, several protesters drove to another anti-tax event in Corona. Among the protesters was Riverside County Supervisor Jeff Stone, chairman of the NoWay1A campaign.

“As (Gov. Arnold) Schwarzenegger once said, this is not a revenue problem, but a spending problem, and unfortunately he has failed to restrain spending,” Stone said.

Many in the crowd of about 200 had voted for the Republican governor when he replaced then-Gov. Gray Davis in 2003 after voters recalled Davis amid a state budget crisis. Now some were signing petitions to recall Schwarzenegger.

“I’m fed up with all of these tax hikes,” said Rich Green, who works for an information-technology company and who signed one of the petitions.

“I don’t mind paying taxes as long as it is properly spent, and they have wasted all of this money for so long. Enough is enough.”

The ballot measures include:
• Proposition 1A, which increases the required “rainy day” fund, may limit spending and extends temporary taxes (one-cent sales tax, vehicle license fee increases and higher income tax for top wage earners) enacted by Gov. Schwarzenegger and the Legislature earlier this year.

• Proposition 1B, which provides additional funding to schools if Prop. 1A also is approved.

Last month’s nationwide “tea party” demonstrations to protest massive government spending increases and rising taxes received relatively little coverage from the national news media.

Liberal big-government groups dismissed them as the work of right-wing advocacy organizations in Washington, and the events were so dispersed - most of them in small cities and towns - that no one could be sure how many actually had turned out to attend them.

In fact, the events were organized locally by nonactivists who had never done anything like this before. More than 600,000 people in nearly 600 localities - from Bakersfield, Calif., to Atlanta - turned out to vent their anger over the Democrats’ massive spending levels. A rally-by-rally account of the people who attended the events suggests that turnout could have been much higher.

The seemingly spontaneous April 15 protests have since grown into a more muscular movement of patriotic Americans concerned that the huge and escalating cost of government under President Obama and his party threatens to plunge the country into paralyzing levels of debt and taxes that will rob them of their economic freedoms.
