Is diluted hydrogen peroxide safe to use as an antiseptic mouthwash
"I'm Mike Rowe, and this is my job."
Cheers!
All this talk is taking me back to my youth when the dentist would drill out cavities using a slow drill and no novocaine. The pain and the smell were exquisite. Just don’t have that kind of fun anymore.
I’ve used it for years, one has to get used to that metallic taste.
It’s recently gotten to the point that it isn’t a recommended method of disinfectant for human tissue (according to a nurse I work with).
Holy Damn!, I thought to myself. Goonch the obsessive picture poster has never once in his life written a whole paragraph. Could this be a sea change?
But alas, it turns out that he still plagiarizes.
A salt water wash is better. I don’t like all the chemistry the peroxide causes — especially when you have a lot of metal filings. There’s some other issues, too, iirc. I’ll try and respond more in a couple of days on this.
Lot’s of advice already!
Been using it for years. There are times when good old fashoned Listerine works better, but it does present the alcohol hazard, so I mostly use the peroxide. A spoonful of honey will also kill the bacteria quite well, and deal with canker sores etc.
I wouldn’t use anything from Crest in my mouth!

Obviously a quote from post 3 as anyone can see.
He has a history of it. Look it up.
Thanks for that info! I’ve been using hydrogen peroxide for years as a mouthwash after I’ve brushed and/or flossed, and I sometimes gargle with salt water if I think I might be coming down with a cold, or will be singing a lot.
And I use saline nasal spray almost every day; I’m one of those people who seldom, if ever, gets a cold.
Bath salts: coarse kosher salt and baking soda.
As you can see, I’m in the “cheaper is better” category, LOL!
H202 is also very good when I am confronted with a dog or cat that has ingested something undesirable like rat poison. Give OTC H202 by mouth until the cat or dog heaves it up. It is an excellent emetic.
