Is diluted hydrogen peroxide safe to use as an antiseptic mouthwash
It’s great — I’ve used it for 20 years. It’s not a substitute for brushing and flossing but it will kill germs, keep your teeth white, and prevent mouth ulcers.
Salt and baking soda make a useful dentifrice. Then use 1.5% hydrogen peroxide in a water pic.
Works well.
However, do not ingest or imbibe.
As for oral health, a recent study went the opposite direction of most of the posts here. H202 was compared to just using isotonic saline as a mouth rinse and the saline was superior. In nursing home patients and oral cancer patients, oral isotonic saline was superior to any of the dilutions of H202.
I heard once that if the H2O2 gets under a bad crown/loose filling, HOO HOOO! Pain time.
I did. Not. Know. That.
Please tell me that's not a hobby.
There are some sentences you just never expect to hear.
Since I've been using Biotene tooth paste, I haven’t felt that I have use it that often.
I'd stake my license on it. B-D
Brought new meaning to “you owe me a keyboard” that’s for sure
Its what large animal veterinarians have to do from time to time; not a popular job for those on Wall Street.
I’m in the same boat with coffee but haven’t used it.
May I ask how much and how often you use it?
Brush with it or just swish?
Thanks,
Mike
Foaming at the mouth,MAD DOG,MAD DOG!
It’s not a hobby. As his screen name suggests, he gets paid for it. Just goes to show, people will do just about anything to earn a living :-)
May God richly bless you.
I bet that was a pretty sight.
Several things.
First, I know some dentists who won’t recommend using hydrogen peroxide. They wouldn’t cite a reason other than general distrust, but that works for me.
As far as the generally best thing for the mouth, throat, eustation tubes, cold sores, mouth irritation, gums, sinuses, etc., is gargling with a tall glass of warm salt water. It helps in all sorts of different ways.
However, not too long ago, a young man managed to kill himself by gargling for a month with Epsom (magnesium) salts. He figured out the one way to uptake so much magnesium that it poisoned him. Normally, it is either used as a laxative, or a small amount is absorbed through the skin. But he killed himself by gargling.
A behind-the-counter toothpaste sold in pharmacies is called “Gel-Kam”, and it has the maximum level of fluoride they can put in a toothpaste.
And several anti-plaque chewing gums are no being sold as well.
Very safe. I use it all the time. No issues.
I'm not sure I want to know how you got your screen name...
