No, the voice tenor is not on the same pitch, but something about Adam’s performance tonight immediately struck me as the same depth of connection of another certain artist loved by so many – I felt I was looking right at Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys.

Adam’s performance was absolutely beautiful. It was of the quality of a Beach Boys “God Only Knows” delivery or “Pet Sounds” classic. For me, it was almost spooky – for one second there he even turned into Brian Wilson right before my eyes, in part I suppose because the hair cut was a spin right from Brian, but also because of something in the heart of Adam’s singing.

Wow.
I believe Adam is American’s Idol. It’s up to America to vote, but Adam won me early on, and he’s won me to the end at this point in the competition.

I love his talent and his commitment to artistry. You know, there are a lot of things on my mind and all of us, with the politics, the economy, and all of that … But Adam just “takes me away”.

Wow. Standing ovation damn right.

Really hard to rank from last night... a whole lot of "meh" out there. I doubt anyone truly helped or hurt themselves this week.

Rankings for the week:

1. Adam -- I can't stand him, personally, but I have to give credit for a good performance here. Not sure why this go the "pimp slot", as it was an odd song choice for the end of the show.
2. Allison -- Called it! (Sort of.) Good song choice, good performance. The judges seem as perplexed as I as to why she keeps ending up in the bottom 3.
3. Danny -- A little shaky at first, but he finished strong and delivered another solid, but not spectacular, performance. He won't be able to displace Adam on his own, but he'd be the biggest beneficiary if Adam is ever voted off.
4. Matt -- Didn't try to be a "copycat", which is good. performance was OK.
5. Anoop -- The kid is clearly smart... he did a good mea culpa (whether you believe him or not) for last week's arrogance, and his song choice was a lot better, too. I don't buy him as a legit contender, but he certainly has a pleasant voice.
6. Kris -- Nothing really wrong here, just a step down from the last few weeks, and nothing particularly special.
7. Lil -- Better than last week (not that this was a hard obstacle to overcome), but why do the judges feel the need to remind us every week how "great" of a singer you really are? Because your performances have been crap, that's why.
8. Scott -- Vocal weaknesses are showing more and more, and he really needs to stay behind the piano.
