Jennifer will be “a future show” (as they put it) - I’m not sure if they didn’t know when, or if they just weren’t saying. They had the idols go backstage when she sang - obviously unlike with Ruben out there, they’d have no clue who would still be there whenever the Jennifer segment airs, so... She’ll be another week.

One thing I couldn’t believe in the results show last night was that most of that - other than the results themselves and the bottom 2 singing, was all pre-taped. That group sing was horribly done and I’m very curious why they did that (and did it so poorly! LOL)

I don't know if he did or not, but, if he did, that would have been a mistake. That would have been a great opportunity for CD sales, not to mention being an inspiration for others. So, my guess would be that he lost it by other means. I'm thinking maybe a Jenny Craig type of thing.

American Idol: Jennifer Hudson Will Return To The Show

Jennifer Hudson may not have won an American Idol crown, but the third season of the show was a great platform for her to go on to do big things with her beautiful voice. Now the most famous American Idol alumni will return to American Idol season 8 for a performance.

According to reports, the Oscar-winning actress and singer will be making a special appearance on American Idol, reports the New York Daily News.

Jennifer Hudson is apparently not going to be performing live, but will tape her song, which will be played on the show at a later date. No further information has been released at this time.

I get the impression that she will NOT be there physically. Maybe she just won’t be able to be there on results night, but, will be able to mentor?

Something else, though. Maybe they felt it was best for her to not be there physically because of her recent losses. Can you imagine the staff, the performers and the audience all wanting to express their sympathies to her. Its only been about 4 or 5 months and she lost her mom, brother and nephew. They might have felt that they would not have been able to control the audience. Just a guess on my part.

They have considered that before, but decided it would embarrass the contestants. Wonder is a musical genius and near the top of the list for the last 39 years. Many singers cannot do what he does vocally and so they don't try.

In future years, he'll probably guest mentor as Smokey did this week. Notice, they didn't require the contestants to sing Smokey. They opened it to all of motown.
