I opened today's thread with John Gary's "My Wild Irish Rose" and wanted to close with another that I have posted before. I love his beautiful, lilting Irish Tenor voice.

Thank you for your cute Irish graphics and Irish Blessings sprinkled throughout today's thread. Thank you, Amy, for Amy's Place every day. :)

Thanks, Lori. Don't know what was wrong with domania. I'm glad it wasn't down all day though.

Yes, Wolfie surprised me, a very sweet surprise. He's much too scarce around here. :)

What’s In A Name?
Walk worthy of the calling with which you were called. —Ephesians 4:1

My Chinese family name sets me apart from others with different family names. It also confers on me a family responsibility. I am a member of the Hia family. As a member of the family, I am expected to carry on the Hia line and uphold the honor of my ancestors.

Believers who have been saved by the atoning blood of Jesus Christ have a spiritual family name. We are called “Christians.”

In the New Testament, the name Christian was first given to the disciples in Antioch by those who noted their behavior (Acts 11:26). Two things defined these early believers. They talked about the good news of the Lord Jesus everywhere they went (v.20). And they eagerly learned the Scriptures as Barnabas and Saul taught them for a whole year (v.26).

The name Christian means an “adherent to Christ”—literally, one who “sticks” to Christ. Today many people call themselves Christians. But should they?

If you call yourself a Christian, does your life tell others who Jesus is? Are you hungry for God’s Word? Do your actions bring honor or shame to Christ’s name?

What’s in a name? When the name is Christian, there is much indeed!

Teach us that name to own,
While waiting, Lord, for Thee,
Unholiness and sin to shun,
From all untruth to flee. —Cecil

A Christian reflects Jesus Christ.

One I forgot to post yesterday

A Sacrifice of Faith

Twas there, upon the Weeping Stones she danced that night
for the lost spirits, and the souls lost in so many bitter fights
She danced under the heathen moon, to music faint, but true
and the soft light dressed her naked form in silver as she flew

Round the ancient ring she flew, the music, part of the very place
and she gave all in her soul, in that plea for the saving of the race
Dark the spirits answering her call, and each knew her pain so fell
and they rose about her, dark columns, each a hero’s tale to tell

She gave plea to them, the need so great the spirits bent in pain
and there they straightened up, black towers on a bloody plain
Out surged an energy, a feeling that swept over oh so weary men
and it infused them like a bright new life, they were warriors again

Up they surge, and on they went, swords as light as air
and on the enemy they fell, like a dark curtain I do swear
No mercy then and none were asked, as the battle raged again
now the enemy fell before the blades of those spirit inspired men

As the battle surged and the tide turned in favor of the land
she danced with her heart and soul, the holly tight in her hand
Oh sing of Morganne, the last Speaker of the Druid clan so grand
who surrendered all she was this night to gift the warriors of the land

As the battle ended and the victors cheered the win, she hung her head
as the spirits took her, there upon her face, her joy still was wed
She traded all for the land she loved, to win a peace for quick and dead
kept the promise made, an oath so fearful rocks had split when it was said

A single woman stood before the ancient spirits there in a circle of stone
and pledge herself forever to the victory and the peace, time to atone
She is now long forgotten, her deed no longer a tale told with pride
yet because she gave the fullness of her love, innocents need not hide

Its said that upon the Tor, of a dark and stormy night you might
hear her song and see her dance, amid the lightning’s might
Where to this day, she dances for the eternals in her eerie grace
and there for any to see, the joy still upon her deathless face

Graphic by MamaBear

The Fawn

There it was I saw what I shall never forget And never retrieve.
Monstrous and beautiful to human eyes, hard to believe,
He lay, yet there he lay,
Asleep on the moss, his head on his polished cleft small ebony hoves,
The child of the doe, the dappled child of the deer.

Surely his mother had never said, "Lie here
Till I return," so spotty and plain to see
On the green moss lay he.
His eyes had opened; he considered me.

I would have given more than I care to say
To thrifty ears, might I have had him for my friend
One moment only of that forest day:

Might I have had the acceptance, not the love Of those clear eyes;
Might I have been for him in the bough above
Or the root beneath his forest bed,
A part of the forest, seen without surprise.

Was it alarm, or was it the wind of my fear lest he depart
That jerked him to his jointy knees,
And sent him crashing off, leaping and stumbling
On his new legs, between the stems of the white trees?

Edna St. Vincent Millay

Thank you, Billie. Isn’t that fawn picture wonderful?

When Lori sent that graphic a few months ago (lol), my first thought was spring. When looking for a poem, that one almost jumped off the Google page.

BTW ... Your goodnight graphic and music were both wonderful. Thank you.

Hope you are having a WFW.
