After reading all the recent beer postings, I got curious: What's in your beer fridge? And to add a philosophical angle, what WOULD BE in your beer fridge if you could have any beer you wanted there?
My pleasure, enjoy!
Welcome to the homebrewers ping list.
Have you thought about a blond ale or a cream ale?
Unless you have good temperature control, Lagers and Pilsners are tough.
A blond ale, fermented at the lower end of the range will give you a crisp, clean taste and will mimic in many ways, a really nice lager.
If not that, a nice extra pale ale (EPA) or a nut brown is always popular.
Are you an extract or all grain brewer?
I have recipes if you like.
Cheers,
knewshound
The same thing goes for Kikkoman Soy Sauce brewed in the U.S.A??????/Just Asking - seoul62........
Thanks, Looks like I need to do some research and get back to ya!
Yuengling, Yuengling Black and Tan, Warsteiner Dunkel. In our family there is a certain amount of role reversal. I am the beer drinker and my husband the wine (red) drinker.
Black and Tan is my favorite daily consumption.
Sounds crazy, I know, but I've brewed crazier.
I'll get back to everyone on the drinkability
Abita Amber, Shiner Bock, Dos XX amber, Molson Golden and Yeungling lager.
There's some Dogfish Head Shelter Pale Ale that I picked up on my trip to Delaware last weekend, soon to be followed by some Victory Storm King.
Never really liked the A-B microbrew wannabes.
In my kitchen fridge I have some Shock Top and Summit IPA.
In my basement Beer Fridge - Bigfoot barleywine 2008, Rogue Dead Guy Ale, Chimay Red, Dixi VooDoo Blackened lagar, Old Boardhead (another barleywine), and growler of a homebrew I made in October - a rye/wheat 5.6% ale. (which admittedly, is maybe just a 6/10. Needs tuning.)
I keep hearing the voice of Scotty: "Captain, ye canna mix the matter and the antimatter like that, she's gonna BLOW!"
And the reformer, Martin Luther's favorite brand:
Can’t find Yuengling around here (D/FW) but I’ll keep looking. Maybe Whole Foods?
Deuchars IPA, Fraoch Heather Ale and a large lump of cheese for when I get peckish.
San Miguel. Phillipino beer. Any Jarhead/Squid who’s been to Subic Bay will know it well. For all the rest, it’s a good lager.
Ah, but WHAT KIND of cheese? But perhaps that is a subject for another thread...
Been a great holiday season - Sierra Nevada's Celebration, Pyramid's Snow Cap, Bridgeport's Ebeneezer, Widmer's BRRRR, Big Sky's Powderhound, Redhook's Winterhook, and a new one, Cold Nose from Laughing Dog Brewery, who just happens to be a neighbor. I have a couple bottles of each left.
Buttkickers - Stone's Double Bastard will killya. Anyone who loves Arrogant Bastard as much as I do will love one and be unconscious after two. DeSchutes' The Abyss is simply incredible and they kegged a bunch of it this year. Irish Death is great. I'm out of The Abyss but I still have a bottle or two of the others.
For non-seasonal beer I'm fond of Alaskan's IPA and Widmer's Broken Halo lately. Current favorite is Racer5 when I can get it. Lovely, hoppy IPA. I like to keep a bottle or two around. And I always have a few bottles of Moose Drool.
There's one I don't have that I'd like - I'm looking for Widmer's Drifter in bottles but so far have only found it on tap. Nice newcomer.
Oh, and a bottle of mustard and something in a Tupperware container that I think might have been food at one point. Or a medical specimen. Kinda hard to tell.
The original brewmaster was Cosmo Spoetzel, who was German. Shiner is now corporately owned. The Czech part of Texas was further north and to the east a bit.
I don’t know how widespread the brand is. I know its available in TN and GA. Where is “around here”?
A local brew, Red Oak is good also, but only on tap as the brewer is a fanatic about freshness. It does make a difference. So if you are in this area (the brewery is between Greensboro and Raleigh), try some Red Oak.
