I found some pics of Sierra and Sydney. It cracked me up last night when one of the guys discribed Sierra as "angry", I can totally see that.

Can’t add much to that. I think your summary of Renee is spot on.

SURVIVOR RECAP!

Timbira Tribe (Black Buffs): Brendan, Coach, Debbie, Erinn, Sierra, Tyson

Jalapao Tribe (Red Buffs): JT, Joe, Spencer, Stephen, Sydney, Taj

Losers: Carolina, Candace, Jerry, Sandy

SANDY (FINALLY) VOTED OUT

We begin this week as Timbira arrives back at camp after Tribal Council. Coach says it’s a “dark, sultry, sulky night.” Ooookay. He tells us that Erinn didn’t know what she was talking about when she said at Tribal Council that Brendan is a better leader. “It pissed me off,” he says, and adds that it made him think Erinn has to go. She would have gone had it not been for Jerry getting sick. Hey, maybe Jerry got sick to his stomach because he had to spend so much time around Coach!

Coach says that as much as he likes leading, everybody trusts Brendan to lead. He tells us that he feels he’d be better if Brendan were voted off and he could lead, but he doesn’t want to vote off Brendan because he wants strong players. Erinn adds that she wants to clarify what she said at Tribal Council – she didn’t mean Coach wouldn’t be a good leader, because she thinks he would be a great leader. Coach is not exactly overwhelmed by her gesture.

Over at Jalapao, Spencer tells us that they are all concerned about how Taj is holding up after being sent to Exile a couple times. After all, she had “no food and no water and nobody to trust.” Well… I think you’ve got it wrong there, Spencer.

Taj reminds us that she and Brendan have a secret alliance, and she wants to talk to Stephen, “the nerdy shy guy who just wants to help everybody” – she knows she can depend on him. So they go off together and Taj says she’s going to change his life. He can be “a part of the biggest upset in Survivor history.” With that, she reveals the secret alliance and he realizes he “might have just stumbled ass-backwards into a huge alliance.” Ha! Taj tells Stephen that the next time there is a challenge, he and Sierra will be the ones chosen to go to Exile. She says she will protect him as long as he rolls with it.

At Timbira, Day 10, treemail arrives. It’s a reward challenge that looks like it will provide them with food and other items for camp – and it will be a strength-based competition. The others ask Brendan who they should send to Exile if they win the challenge. He says they could pick Taj again, though they note she would likely pick him too. Unfortunately, he hasn’t yet told Sierra about the plan! So if she ends up going to Exile, she won’t know what’s going on! He says he could be in “a pretty heinous situation.” Good job, Brendan.

The tribes arrive and Probst describes what they can expect: Three members of each tribe will have a pole across their shoulders. Each round, weight will be added to that pole. The decision about which players get the weight will be made by two members of the other tribe. Yes, we’ve seen this one before. Last person left standing wins reward for their tribe. They must put two men and one woman as weight-bearers. Reward is a camp raid! They will get to go to the other camp and steal two items. In addition, the winners will choose a loser to go to Exile Island, and that person will take somebody from the winning tribe to go with them. Each tribe has to sit people out. Timbira has Sierra sit, while Jalapao sits out Stephen and Spencer (obviously holding back for the immunity challenge). Jalapao has Joe, Taj, and J.T. as weight-bearers. Timbira has Debbie, Brendan, and Tyson. Really? No Coach? I thought he was so strong.

Jalapao puts weight on Brendan while Timbira designates Joe. But the weight is actually placed by their own tribe members in order to ensure even placement. Each bag added weighs 10 pounds, and two bags are added at a time. J.T. and Tyson get weights next. Then it’s Brendan again and Taj. Fast-forward through a lot of weights to the point that Brendan is loaded with 180 pounds, J.T. has 160, Tyson has 120, Joe has 140, and both women have 80. Brendan and J.T. are given more weight, and Brendan is shaking a bit. Probst points out that the record in this challenge is 220 pounds (Rupert, Pearl Islands) – Brendan is at 200 right now. Guess what? J.T. and Brendan get even more weight. But Brendan can’t take it – he’s out. J.T. is at 200 pounds now, but he gets another 20 while Tyson is the new designee. J.T. is holding strong at 220, but Tyson can’t handle the 140. Looks like Timbira is toast, since they only have Debbie left.

But wait – J.T. can’t continue to hold it! He drops out. Then Joe drops out without warning as well! He is grabbing his shoulder and looks to be in pain. More importantly, the challenge has come down to the women of each tribe, both of whom are at 80 pounds. More weight is added to each. Taj is still standing tall, while Debbie is starting to bend. Another 20 pounds are added. And Debbie drops! Jalapao wins reward!

Who is going to Exile? Taj says they should send Sierra and see how she likes it. Sierra, still oblivious to the plan, picks Taj. Brendan tells us he hopes Taj will be able to explain the situation and work things out.

Joe and J.T. arrive at Timbira to raid and are welcomed with hugs from Debbie and Erinn. Hey, maybe the guys will take them! Tyson tells us it felt weird having the Timbira guys come in – you want to stay on good terms with them because you may be living with them after the merge, but in the back of his mind, he was thinking he wanted to punch them in the head!

Joe and J.T. look at the beans and Debbie mentions the water can. The guys are too nice to take both sacks of beans, so they go ahead and just take one, plus the water can. J.T. tells us it’s a smart move because he might end up at Timbira after a switch.

When the raiders return and explain their thoughts, Sandy tells us she disagrees and uses some ridiculous metaphor about guns. As the guys put some beans into the water to cook ‘em up, Sandy asks what kind they are. She eventually determines they are “fartin’ beans.” This earns her several “oh my God” looks from her tribemates, especially Spencer and Sydney. Indeed, Sydney tells us Sandy is getting on her nerves. As crazy as she is, she repeats everything three times – it’s wearing on everybody.

Meanwhile, Taj and Sierra arrive at Exile Sand Dune. Taj gets the clue this time. She goes off to read it and figures out that the immunity idol is hidden by where they receive treemail, which is what she says she figured. Taj then talks to Sierra and is stunned to hear that Brendan hadn’t already told her what’s going on! So Taj decides to fill her in. Taj goes about a mile a minute in her explanation and Sierra just looks stunned. She says she just got goosebumps – it’s awesome. Sierra tells us it feels great that she chose the right person to trust and now they have an “awesome foursome.”

Back at Timbira, Erinn confides that she just can’t find a connection with any of them. Before she came out, she went through a terrible breakup and can’t even carry out normal conversations with people anymore. She practically cries as she continues, saying she can’t talk about anything because the breakup will come up and she doesn’t want to cry in front of the others. Tyson tells us he’s pretty much written Erinn off – he hasn’t talked to her one-on-one and she doesn’t hang out with the tribe much. Plus, he thinks she’ll be very upset when she gets voted off and he wants to see her freak out a Tribal Council.

Immunity challenge time! Taj and Sierra rejoin their tribes and Probst explains the challenge: One tribe member at a time will race out on a criss-crossing course (as in, the paths cross over each other, giving the potential to run into the other tribe member who is on the course) to get a rather large puzzle piece. Once they’re back, the next person will go. Once they’ve collected all eight pieces, they need to put them in their correct spots in a frame and rotate them to reveal the winning phrase: “Escape the vote Timbira/Jalapao wins immunity.” Jalapao sits out Taj because she can’t run.

Coach and Joe begin, with Joe making it to the crossings first. Joe is first back by about 20 feet. J.T. and Erinn are next, with J.T. maintaining their lead. Spencer and Brendan are out. Then Stephen and Tyson. Jalapao maintains their lead, but Tyson catches up a bit. Sandy and Sierra are on the course. Sandy stays in the lead while Sierra’s butt has to be blurred. Sydney and Debbie hit the course. Sydney can’t get her puzzle piece untied and Timbira takes the lead. Brendan and Joe head back out. Timbira still leads as Tyson and J.T. go for their final pieces. Tyson keeps the lead but J.T. makes up time – Timbira is only a couple seconds ahead.

The puzzle assembly begins, and they’re essentially neck and neck. Both tribes are trying to be quiet as they discuss the possibilities, but spies from the other tribe are watching and learning as well. Timbira thinks they have it – and they do! Timbira wins! The losing streak is over.

Jalapao returns to camp, talking about how difficult the puzzle was. Taj reminds us that she knows where the hidden immunity idol is and says she’ll talk to Stephen soon, but now they need to focus on Tribal Council.

Joe tells Sydney that he’s kind of glad they’re getting rid of somebody. She asks if it’s someone in particular. Yes, someone whose name rhymes with “Andy.”

Taj says Sandy was stronger than Sydney in the recent challenges. Stephen says she’s a nice presence around camp, but Taj says they don’t need eye candy. Stephen and J.T. say Sydney works hard and pulls her own weight around camp. Sydney tells us that as far as she knows, Sandy is heading out. She hopes it’s not her, but “it’s Survivor.”

Jalapao arrives at Tribal Council and Probst immediately jumps into the questioning by pointing out that Sandy was out of the game on Day 1, but here they are on Day 12 and she’s still around. Sandy looks at him with what I can only describe as a stupid grin on her face. Has she recovered from that first impression? She believes she has and that she fits in well with the gang, even given the fact that she’s the older woman.

Does Sandy spend any time reflecting on her age while spending so much time with younger, pretty people? Sandy says she brings them a lot of laughs but she knows some of them might be using their bodies a bit. She’s seen Sydney flirting and wearing J.T.’s boxers. J.T. confirms that Sydney is indeed wearing his boxers. Sydney says it’s hot and she doesn’t have shorts, just jeans. Probst notes that nobody asked her to defend herself.

Does Joe see flirting? Yep. Is it a fair part of the game? Stephen points out that Joe and Sydney actually flirt more than J.T. and Sydney. Sydney nods her head and smiles, which is picked up on by Probst. She says she has a flirtatious personality and even flirts with women (insert lyrics from "I Kissed A Girl" here).

What does Taj think? She says Sydney is “gorgeous” so of course men are going to be attracted to her. If there’s an alliance with guys, it will probably involve Sydney because that’s who the guys would want to be with. Taj says that’s okay, though, because she’ll make her way through the game regardless.

With that, it’s time to vote! Sydney votes for Sandy, saying it’s just her time to go. Sandy returns the favor.

Probst reads the votes - one for Sydney, one for Joe (Taj voted for Joe because she didn't want all the votes piled onto Sandy, who she knew was going anyway), and four for Sandy, who becomes the fourth person voted out of Survivor: Tocantins.

I'll be back on Thursday with next week's preview and picks.

Does anyone know if someone’s still doing Amazing Race threads? I searched but couldn’t find anything for the current season. Anyone here a fan of the show?

I’ve not seen an Amazing Race thread this year, but I am a fan of the show and don’t miss an episode. (Though I have to admit, I sort of got addicted to Amazing Race Asia for a bit there; can’t wait for their next season...)

No threads AFAIK. I will watch last nights episode when I get home tonight. Fell asleep too early yesterday. Still looking for that hour I lost over the weekend.

Hey Jeff Probst made the news when he helped a camera operator who had a couple of seizures while he was filming an interview. I read this on yahoo.

As for the current season of Survivor (Tocantins), Jeff promises more twists and turns coming our way. "There's a record number of blindsides this year, which is always fun. There's more tribal councils where people don't know they're going home and get zapped than we ever had before." He also is excited about the final outcome."[We have] a really good finish, one of the best winners we've had in a really long time."

I sure hope that doesn't mean that Coach wins. Anyone who's read the reviews knows how much Jeff loves him.

The good news is that Coach is so arrogant that he’s almost certain to be blindsided. He’ll never imagine that there actually could be people who want to vote HIM out.

SURVIVOR PING!

Timbira Tribe (Black Buffs): Brendan, Coach, Debbie, Erinn, Sierra, Tyson

Jalapao Tribe (Red Buffs): JT, Joe, Spencer, Stephen, Sydney, Taj

Losers: Carolina, Candace, Jerry, Sandy

Episode 5 title: "You’re Going to Want that Tooth"

As the Exile Island Alliance grows stronger, they start to run the risk of being discovered by outsiders and a self-assured castaway lets her ego run away with her as she becomes convinced she's safe while her tribe contemplates voting her out. One contestant (maybe J.T.) loses a tooth during a challenge.

Reward Challenge: In a challenge partially based on one from Survivor: Guatemala, contestants will have to be unwinded from a spool by a tribemate. They will then have to carry in heavy bags, perhaps containing puzzle pieces.

Immunity Challenge: Contestants will play a lacrosse-type game. (Would have been perfect for StepheME). J.T. may lose a tooth here.

Spoilers (highlight to see):

Reward challenge winner: Jalapao

Immunity challenge winner: Timbira

Voted Off: Spencer

I'll be back after the show with the recap.
