That IS a nice outfit, because the coat is a nice length, it is fitted, and the length of the skirt isn't bad. I could be an inch or two longer to cover her knees.
The frock she wore in the Viewing Stand just looked frumpy. The coat fit like a housecoat. And that color shouldn't be worn by ANYONE! ;o)
Bingo! I couldn't put my finger on what I didn't like about it. Housecoat. One of the first things I learned in my tailoring courses was choosing the appropriate material for the pattern. The material might have worked if the lines of the coat had been some what shaped. The only thing I really didn't like was the collar or necklace.
The color is a matter of personal preference, and the accessories were a good choice for what she preferred.
It was the cut. To be fair, Mrs. Bush looked overwhelmed by her outfit. Too much gray, too much fabric, too loose.
