No offense — my take is it was out of tune 30-40% of the song and the delivery was odd because he was worrying so much about enunciation he was popping the sounds out.

That was bad advice the judges originally gave him. There are beautiful Spanish-language songs that can give you goose-bumps even if you don’t know the words.

Listen to Mecano or classic Mexican trios or high quality Mariachis.

During the auditions he sang in Spanish and Paula promptly asked him to sing something in English. I think he needs to stay with English. Singing in English he will get the votes of those that speak Spanish as well as those that speak English, BUT, if he sings in Spanish, he will lose some of the English speaking votes. Some songs truly do lose something in the translation and you can't tell if they flub the lyrics if you don't understand them, and the judges don't always point it out. jmo
