Thanks for the news, Netizen. It's Kelly's first #1 in the UK, even though several of her singles have gone top 10 there before. The album is officially released domestically a week from today. It's already been released in some European markets.

she could never quite get the theater out of her system while on Idol. That's what caused her to lose the title, in my opinion.

I'd add song selection to the list -- she kept trying to be a Mariah/Whitney style "diva", but she is much better suited to a more husky/vamp style. Ertha Kitt or even Marilyn Monroe would have been better role models for her.

She is just not cut out for pop, but she signed a deal with the Verve label in January, and her new album is scheduled for a late 2009 release. Verve, a division of Universal, is known as a jazz label. With the right kind of music, marketed in the right way, McPhee could find an audience in the adult contemporary genre.

LOL! Neti...they were just getting into the back seat when that pic was shot. How attentive can two people look when they are just sliding into the back seat of a car and they have paparazzi pointing cameras at them? As for the limp arm in the last pic, maybe that's one indicator of why she's an ex-girlfriend now. Seacrest seems to go through girlfriends pretty quickly.

You're right, though. The Australian chick does look like she's had a little too much plastic surgery. ;-)

I never heard of Sophie Monk until I came across that item about Ryan dating her. According to Wikipedia, she was born 14 December 1979, which means she turned 29 last December. Regarding the men in her life, Wikipedia has this to say:

Monk has had a tabloid reported private life, including a period dating actor Jude Law. Monk started dating Benji Madden in 2006, but in January 2008, media outlets reported that the couple had split up. Monk had returned to Australia alone, almost a year to the day since Madden proposed. On February 12, 2008 it was officially announced by Monk's Sydney agent, Yoon Kim, that "Sophie and Benji have officially split. The decision was mutual and they remain amicable." Three months later, Monk was linked to Ryan Seacrest.
