The sob story: an 18 year old girl named Laneshe Young. She grew up with her mom and her sybs (no dad around). They were sometimes homeless.
All right. Enough of that. Can she sing?
Yeah. She sings a song she wrote herself--and for once it doesn't suck.
Kara is impressed with her skills as a singer and writer.
Simon: Quirky. Fun.
She gets the unanimous yes.
She's 1 of only 19 to make it to Hollywood from Churchill Downs.
Next week, Idol travels to Jacksonville, Fl.
