Have been watching previews for "Gran Torino", and have to admit actually I might be hooked.
Except every time I decide to go spend money on a movie, I end up hacked off at sending money to liberals, for yet another preachy bit of pc bull.
Anyone know if Gran Torino is just more liberal propaganda?... if it is, I'm not supporting it.
Outlaw Joey Wales hands down
Don’t look for a political comment in the film. Just go and enjoy. Probably Clint’s last role as a star ever...and he brings it home.
Good flick - I would see it again.
The absolute best CE movie was/is "High Plains Drifter"
good one too!
“I mean, everything Hollywood does is liberal propaganda. Odds are, even this one is. Even with Clint Eastwood.”
I came across a story on this one. Supposedly the screenplay was written by a former autoworker, and Eastwood didn’t change any of it. He said he started changing some of it, but then decided to just shoot it as written. I don’t know if it’s liberal in slant or not (apparently not from other comments), but it didn’t originate in Hollywood, and Clint didn’t change it.
I’ve been told that his line while holding the gang at bay with a shotgun (seen in the trailer) “Get of my lawn” is this centuries “make my day”!
Not a shotgun....it’s an M1....very telling of the film’s perspective.
Nothing excreted from Hollowood is worth $10.00.
Is this Brody’s website?
I have no idea. It was passed on to me by a friend. I just got excited and started watching.
Only thing I hated was end sacrificial BS, 2nd degree murder these scum bags will be out in less than 5, Clint should have shot everyone like old days.
Overall though 9/10
if we all live with the illegals and get to know them - we will all love them.
Yes that was a problem but balanced because they did show you might like all of them like the scum bag cousins.
Not at all. In fact, the racist things Eastwood's character spouts throughout the film will make the average Leftist get up and walk out long before it ends. The scene with the three black thugs is right on point. ;)
It's about legal Hmong immigrants - our allies in Vietnam, as the film points out. The only possible illegals in the movie are some Hispanic gang members early on.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with this movie for conservatives - it's Eastwood as he used to be.
What were the two handguns held outside the car windows early in the film, by rival gangs? A .22 and then a .38? One guy in the packed theater laughed when the second one appeared—only guy who knew his guns (NYC). I knew the second one was more powerful but just would like to know for trivia’s sake.
The Mexicans had a revolver, but it’s hard to tell the caliber just by looking at the barrel or the type of gun since most styles are chambered in many calibers. The Hmong pulled out an Uzi, much more powerful than your standard pistol. The bonus is that you get to see/hear it on full-auto later in the film.
Clint defended his home with an M1 Garande, and a Colt 1911 pistol (pretty sure it was a 1911, but I’m thinking in retrospect).
This is a very good movie, touching and very un-pc. Clint should get an oscar.
I made my teenage daughters watch the movie.
Watch the movie. The neighborhood is Hmong immigrants.....not illegals.
Amazing, an Ebert review without a gratuitous slam at George W. Bush, or an mention of The One.
