Maybe not !! There were supposedly some bio students at Penn State that successfully gene spliced cannibas genes into ordinary hedge plants in the late 80’s. Trim the hedges and smoke the tailings .

Yeh,...go ahead with that. After all so many kids don’t do drugs because their parents did, they are rebelling. The ghettos , trailer parks, and ivy league communities are full of kids gone straight because of their parents hahahahahahah.

Or, maybe his little punk for a son should have not had drug paraphernalia in the van — and he should have been a better father made the little POS learn his lesson and pay for it and bought the family a new van — “don’t do the crime if you can’t do the time!” But, then again, “Stupid is as stupid does.”

Appalachee Pkwy heads straight toward the Capitol building as you’re coming into Tallahassee. Even back in the early 70s when I was in school there, it was a beautiful drive at night with the lighting on the Parkway and with the State Capitol lit up. In those days there was no practical test for THC in the bloodstream for drivers, so getting a DUI for pot was not something anyone worried about. Did I say the Capitol building was lit up? Well, it wasn’t alone (and that really was a beautiful drive back into town).

Hilarious.

I can’t stand drug warriors (and, no, I don’t use drugs). Their misguided do-goodery has put a huge internal police force in place that will be used against the population.

You cannot legislate morality.

I respectfully disagree.

Destroying drug laws is a wonderful thing.

I believe something similar was done by Carl Spackler.

Wonder if he can patent the process. I didn’t see any mention of patents in the article, but I read through it pretty quickly.

It would be like patenting mowing the lawn. It's standard technique.

Their reasoning: If they successfully commercialized the formula, the state would just cut their appropriation.

Different states, and even different universities within each state, might reason differently on such matters. At the University of Wisconsin at Madison, they have an alumni group with full-time patent agents on the payroll, filing patent applications on behalf of the university. They're awarded about 70 patents in a typical year.

Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation

As you can see from reading the story, even 77 patents in 2005 ranks them as only the fifth most productive university in the United States in acquiring patents: "Listed ahead of UW-Madison were the 10 campuses of the University of California System, with 390 patents; the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, with 136 patents; the California Institute of Technology, with 101 patents; and Stanford University and the University of Texas, which tied for fourth with 90 patents each."

What a jackass, [sic] all that effort because his sons [sic] a pothead.Typical irrational liberal behavior in otherwise “booksmart” people.

Go back and read the article and then correct your first sentence above.

police informed him that the Aerostar minivan would be permanently remanded to police custody.

Absolute insanity. We have given up our privacy and property rights to this stupid failed drug war.

You ain't seen nothing yet. The Coast Guard seized a yacht worth about $250,000 after they found a roach (remnant of a marijuana joint) in one of the ashtrays. Seizing cars like the professor's minivan is fairly routine. Even private aircraft have been seized. Asset forfeiture laws are an invitation for the abuse of government power.

I thought so , but only grew in certain climes like W Va. Was a while ago . Now all people have to do is go to Mass. (as of 1/1/09) and smoke your brains out . No crime under 1 oz. and a hundred $ fine if caught ?
Just imagine how much money would be saved by decriminalizing THC and clear1ng out the jails of really harmless people arrested for toking .

Just imagine how much money would be saved if our judges and legislators were not funded by lawyers who pay to get the laws that will keep them in business.
