Beautiful Polly!!!!
To end a day or to start it, a prayer is always the right thing.
Dear Lord,
I thank You for this day, I thank You for my being able to see and to hear this morning.
I’m blessed because You are a forgiving God and an understanding God.
You have done so much for me and You keep on blessing me.
Forgive me this day for everything I have done, said, or thought, that was not pleasing to you.
I ask now for Your forgiveness.
Please keep me safe from all danger and harm.
Help me to start this day with a new attitude and plenty of gratitude.
Let me make the best of each and every day to clear my mind so that I can hear from You.
Please broaden my mind that I can accept all things.
Let me not whine and whimper over things I have no control over.
And give me the best response when I’m pushed beyond my limits.
I know that when I can’t pray, You listen to my heart.
Continue to use me to do Your will.
Continue to bless me that I may be a blessing to others.
Keep me strong that I may help the weak...
Keep me uplifted that I may have words of encouragement for others.
I pray for those that are lost and can’t find their way.
I pray for those that are misjudged and misunderstood.
I pray for those who don’t know You intimately.
I pray for those that don’t believe.
But I thank You that I believe that God changes people, and God changes things.
I pray for all my sisters and brothers.
For each and every family member in their households.
I pray for peace, love and joy in their homes; that they are out of debt and all their needs are met.
I pray that every person comes to know there is no problem, circumstance, or situation greater than God.
Every battle is in Your hands for You to fight.
I pray that these words be received into the hearts of every one I meet in Jesus’ name.
Amen!
His Garden
In a garden grows a harvest of peace for all
and as the sun sets in silent joy it calls
to every heart and every soul to heal and rest
and like a good gardener, He seeds the very best
A woman bought a bottle of cod liver oil to give to her dog so he could have a healthier and shinier coat. Every morning, she pried the dogs jaws open and forced the liquid down his throat. He struggled, but she persisted. He doesnt know whats good for him! she thought. Faithfully, each day she repeated the process.
One day, however, the bottle tipped over and she released her grip on the dog for just a moment to wipe up the mess. The dog sniffed at the fishy liquid and began lapping up what she had spilled. He actually loved the stuff. He had simply objected to being coerced!
Sometimes we use a similar method in telling others about Christ. Called buttonholing, its an intense, in-your-face kind of confrontation. While earnestly desiring to share the gospel, we may end up repelling people instead. In our sincere but overly enthusiastic attempt, we create resistance.
We are called to share the good news, but we are not responsible for someones acceptance or rejection of Christ. Its not our job to try to convict someone of sin. Thats the Holy Spirits responsibility (John 16:8).
As you tell others of Christs sacrifice, be sensitive. Know when to slow down and let God and His Word do the convicting and drawing to Himself.
... to which I add a hearty AMEN!!
This spoke straight to my soul.
Good Morning Mayor. Excellent, excellent thought in today’s ODB!
Today’s is so true and a perfect example too.
What a wonderful message this morning, Mr. Mayor, and a lot of truth there. I went to hear this wonderful singing group last night at my granddaughter’s church. It was ‘cold chill’ music and so wonderful! I don’t think there was a person in that church that wasn’t touched, just by song. Here is their website if you would like to see them http://www.brianfreeandassurance.com/ and they are also on YouTube. One of my FReeper FRiends pointed me to the group on YouTube!
Johnn, that prayer is just so wonderful. Thank you so much for posting it for us. Hope you are feeling better today and that things will be looking up for you and your lady.
Short, sweet and so lovely, Johnn!
Yuma is about 220 miles from where I live, Dolly.
I may never get through all the posts from here through those starting today, but can’t let these holidays for Thursday go without a smile and a comment. :)Besides, I like those polka dot shoes! And...yep! those Applebee’s Blonde Brownies and ice cream look soooooo good!
Wow, Dolly! Very interesting and wonderfully presented to us! It is a good example of how we can change our lives, no matter how we live. (Reminded me of Paul Harvey - “and now for the REST of the story.)
Thank you so much!
Hi, Maj - have been reading all your comments in your ‘catching up’ mode, and just wanted you to know that I thank you for the compliments on my graphics. Hope your week is a good one - I’m behind by a few days so trying to scan the days I missed. :)
Missed seeing this earlier, and just wanted to thank *you* for your compliment. There are so many people who contribute such neat stuff to Amy's, and I'm pretty sure none of us would be doing it if we didn't enjoy doing it. :)
Just seeing your “Sunrise at Monument Valley Idaho” - so pretty. Hope you’re feeling much, much better today, Meg. And have been able to get lots of rest.
