LOS ANGELES "SpongeBob SquarePants" might get squeezed off Time Warner Cable.
Media giant Viacom Inc. said its Nickelodeon, MTV, Comedy Central and 16 other channels will go dark for 13 million subscribers at 12:01 a.m. Thursday if a new carriage fee deal with Time Warner Cable Inc. is not agreed upon by then.
The impasse would mean "SpongeBob" and other popular shows like Jon Stewart's "The Daily Show" and Stephen Colbert's "The Colbert Report" will be cut off on the nation's second-largest cable operator.

I have Time Warner, I can give a rats behind about losing The Daily Show(that show is garbage anyway) but I am pissed about losing TV land and Comedy Central because of South Park, sucks, its bad enough Time Warner is gonna raise our bill by 5 bucks in the new year, but getting rid of channels too, maybe we will just switch to Dish Network or Direct TV
Hear the sound of me crying?.....NOT!!!!
We’ve been seeing this on the scroll for our catv (Comcast) all day. Unfortunately SciFi and Nickelodeon are also included in the list of channels. Losing SciFi just as the new BSG season is starting is unacceptable.
Is Colbert related to Patrick Star?
I don’t care about either of them, I’m just happy to hear Spongebob may be off.
Losing Colbert I can take, but SpongeBob? How much must we endure?!
I’ve been resarching DishNet vs DirectTv. DirectTv looks cheaper for us.
If I were you, I would NOT try Direct TV. I wish I had a choice!
Can I get the sports channels(NBA TV, etc, not NBA League Pass, I know that costs extra) but if Direct TV comes with a good package for cheap we just might go ahead with it.
TW has been emboldened by seeming to win their fight with the NFL and is now taking on a fight they won’t win. Viacom controls way too many channels that are very popular, the letters are probably already storming in. Expect the NFL to use this to their advantage, TW will lose both fights because they picked one too many.
Right now I have hundreds of channels that I neither watch nor listen to (yup, we got radio on TV!). I bet most of America would follow that lead. Even the folks that feel like they're getting a bargain paying twice as much for five times as many channels would realize their mistake soon enough.
Good riddance to permanently unseen intellectual programming!
I didn’t look at the sports channels as they’re not a priority in my house. With a toddler it’s usually All Dora, All The Time. Vamenos!
So which is better to go with in your opinion, right now we pay around 86 bucks(including internet) from Time Warner, sometimes the damn internet goes out and we try calling them and of course they are smart they don’t respond because others are complaining too, I heard that next year the bill will go up by 5 bucks. We have the digital box in one room, and the rest of the house has regular cable
And nothing of value was lost.
If it was Turner Classic Movies and all of the Discovery channels that are being blacked out, then I would be disappointed, but I’m online often anyways.
Time-Lies-Warner-Turner won’t be shedding any tears over silencing the “comedy” news programs on Viacommie’s Comedy Central network.
