I have to thank Santa for leaving me a copy of Windows 7 beta 1 in my stocking for Christmas Day. This beta (build 6.1.7000.0.081212-1400) should be the first and only beta from Microsoft of Windows 7, and Im pleased to report that its a good one.

Judging by the quality of this build, I expect Windows 7 to be released June/July of 09. I really cant see Microsoft dragging out the release a year.

Oooops. LOL.
Same cards will download to XP with no problems.
What do you mean by “its thread is iffy?” Threading was a big improvement in Vista as XP was largely a single thread of execution. Are you referring to kernel support for threading? (It most certainly is there.) Maybe you mean something else. I don’t know. What you list looks more like “hey look at me I know computers” jargon rather than something that actually makes technical sense.
For what it’s worth, you may want to look into HP as the culprit for that “patch.”
Wasn’t funny when the Superintendent’s laptop died because the patch overwrote the regkey defaulting to Intel instead of AMD. Nor was it funny when the same patch took out our Sophos server.
And by the way, wasn’t that an XP issue?
Why the need for 64bit? 32bit ought to be enough for anybody.
Try this one, load up IE, a chat client, MS Office 2003 with docs and exls files open, Blackberry manager, and Novell's Groupwise.
Now try and print a pdf to an HP network printer. Let me know when you get your print spooler error applet to shut down.
I haven’t checked it out yet...
I’ve had zero problems with running multiple applications on Vista. For that matter, I’ve had zero problems running multiple applications on Ubuntu, Fedora, Debian, XP, or OSX. (By the way, threads are not the same as processes.)
Don’t be so quick to blame the operating system for your printing problems. I’ve had more than my share of problems with JetDirect printers.
At Best Buy all Dells are 64 bit. Dell is pushing the 64 when you call saying down the road memory will come in handy. I wish I did not have it.
Even more fun with Vista...

Cons: My only 2 cons about the camera are that the XD card slot is in the battery compartment "As with almost all compact digital cameras all brands" and that my awesome new camera will not work with Vista 64BIT Edition "only works on 32BIT edition" which was not pointed out on NewEgg or Olympus website. I called today and got a confirmation that 64 BIT OS is incompatible. I would have given this a 5 star, but that bummed me out. I can still take out the XD card and put it in a reader and then transfer my pics to my 64BIT system. Other than that, no cons about the camera it's self.
Is this your "duh" moment? Multiple apps, only a couple of which are even mutli-thread aware, shouldn't be triggering the issues they are. Looking at event logs and crash dumps showed teh thread handler corrupting the stack.
Under XP, Linux, Mac OS X, they don't.
Under Vista... kablooey..
Forget it. I’m sticking with Windows XP Professional until it melts. Windows 7 is going to be crap just like Vista is.
So how come new computers that have Vista also have an option to downgrade to XP?
“outdated public perception”
You mean Microsoft is entitled to their reputation back after selling us a broken operating system? That’s not the way the world works. They haven’t yet even tried to pay for their mistake in any fashion.
Does anyone other than the mainstream media say Vista is crap? I'm pretty sure even Rush Limbaugh runs Vista on his computers.
That's in case people need their memory more for gaming.
I love my XP, I guess I will be another member of the growing underground of XP users.
