The Texas/OU/Tech thing is *not* a BCS issue. Each conference sets their own tiebreaks and *any* poll used as just the third level is moronic.

The were six tiebreakers by the Big 12 in case three teams tied. The BCS poll was the fourth tiebreaker. Fifth was also a tie (all three had same overall winning percentage), and sixth would have been a drawing.

The BCS poll was put in to put in to advance the team with the best chance of winning the National Championship.

The BCS tiebreakers are:

Divisional Tiebreakers: The following procedure will determine the representative from each division in the event of a tie:

If two teams are tied, the winner of the game between the two tied teams shall be the representative If three or more teams are tied, steps 1 through 7 will be followed until a determination is made.

1. If only two teams remain tied after any step, the winner of the game between the two tied teams shall be the representative.
2. The records of the three teams will be compared against each other.
The records of the three teams will be compared within their division.
3. The records of the three teams will be compared against the next highest placed teams in their division in order of finish (4, 5 and 6).
4. The records of the three teams will be compared against all common conference opponents.
5. The highest ranked team in the first Bowl Championship Series Poll following the completion of Big 12 regular season conference play shall be the representative.
6. The team with the best overall winning percentage [excluding exempted games] shall be the representative.
7. The representative will be chosen by draw.

No, that is your opinion. Both Utah and Boise are in BCS conferences. If the powers that be don’t think their schedule is strong enough, then redraw the divisions. Otherwise there is no incentive for 90% of the schools to even be a part of the BCS. Those teams were undefeated - period. They may as well just crown USC/OU/Texas/Florida/OhioState each year and forget about the rest of the nation.

It will be Tech’s offense against Ole Miss’s defense. I expect Tech to win.

A pretty stupid tie breakers..

Where was common opponents? common score? ..., ..., ... They used a poll.. That is *completely* on the BIG-12

Were I setting a conference tie breakers I would only use a poll after a coin flip that landed on its side fault the big-12 with this years mess..

Nobody, and I mean nobody thinks USC / Penn State should be in the NC before OU or Florida.

Well, it’s a tough trip for me to make for the Sugar Bowl, and ‘Bama is going to be an absolutely tough opponent.

I obviously wasn’t thinking we’d be in a BCS game this year otherwise I would have asked for 2 Jan off of work (unfortunately somebody beat me to it. Hate it when that happens).

Great system........

Rather than deciding it on the field, it's decided by what pin heads think.

If it were OU vs. USC or Fla. vs. USC, the line would be even or +1/-1 either way.

There are 120 different teams in Bowl Sub Division each team plays only 10% of the league. Compare this to the NFL where each team plays 33% of the teams in the NFL.

In the NFL 6 teams per conference make the playoffs (37.5%) and even then there are times when a team with a better record does not get in because of limited slots.

Now Lets just shoot for NFL participation numbers

Games per season 40!
Teams in the Playoffs 45!

Sorry but a playoff wont work in a league with 120 teams, you also have con central governing body to keep teams and conferences anywhere near balanced in terms of size, geography, internal rules, ..., ...

Finally there is tradition playoffs would destroy a Bowl Game...

Welcome to the Fiesta Bowl where the winner goes on the the Rose Bowl, ..., ...,

Of those 120 teams, maybe half have put on their big boy pants, and of those 60, maybe a third put 'em on every Saturday.

"Or Danny Weurfel? I liked Danny, nice guy, but no place for him in the NFL."

Isn't he a dimocrap congressman?

Whats the difference in non ranked four loss Mississippi beating Florida and OU being beat by a better than Ole Miss team of an eventual number 1 Texas?

That is why the better system is what is seen in March with NCAA college basketball called the brackets system which produces the interesting March Madness.
