O.J. Simpson is sentenced 15 years.
They weren't just college students, they were LAW students at Howard University Law School. Very scary.
I believe he can only pardon convictions for Federal crimes.
The judge was scrupulous in not giving him more time than his co-defendent. She wanted it to be about this crime and not the murders.
What ARE you suggesting?
In recent years, it has become fashionable for football fans to attend games wearing football jerseys featuring the number of a favorite player. Up until the mid-1990’s, #32 was one of the most popular jersey numbers among USC fans, but for some strange reason, no one wears that number anymore.
What are you smoking?
Did you hear the tape. Do you approve of someone arriving in your business, hotel room, residence with a gun demanding you turn over things they believe belongs to them?
Do you understand that Vegas cannot allow anyone with a gun to enter a casino.
We'd take a stroll down San Vicente Blvd. and it was a hoot watching the ghoulish tourists (and there were TONS of them) stop dead in their tracks.
“I didn’t think waht I was doing was wrong.”
That’s the whole story of both crimes right there. This man has such a tremendous sense of entitlement that murder, kidnapping and assault with a deadly weapon don’t seem wrong to him. After all it’s what he’s owed.
My hope now is that with OJ out of his children’s lives, they will have a chance at some normalcy.
There is no justice in this world, none.
But this conviction is closer to fairness than his earlier acquittal.
I wish he had gone to jail 15 years earlier; it would have prevented a lot of heartache.
AT LAST!
No. Actually I don't. But my guess is that most murders in Nevada don't get 15 years. I guess I would have had to have been present to hear all the testimony but I'm not clear how OJ had this gun and he didn't wind up with whatever stuff he thought was his, and/or some people who did have the stuff got hurt.
And BTW, there are lots of people in Vegas casinos with guns. That's why there are so few robbery attempts. It isn't because of any gun ban.
ML/NJ
well, I heard the judge say concurrently, not consecutively....
but, what do I know. LA Times says minimum of 9 years...other sites are saying different. I liked how his lawyer asked for bail....hahaha....we were laughing around the office that the White Bronco was around back.
My father-in-law says that OJ was consumed by his imorality that lead him to this day and God did not intervene.
OJ broke the law and got convicted this time around. That's evident and goes along with what your FIL said. As far as divine justice and God making things right, my belief is that God allows all the stuff (good and bad) in this life to bring us to an understanding of Himself. He is concerned more with the eternal than the temporal. I dont believe God decreed that OJ would be caught and convicted to make things "right". Christ death and resurrection already did that. Simpsons sin was paid for over 2000 years ago at Calvery, if he accepts that truth He will be forgiven the same as anyone else who comes to Christ. That wont change the fact he broke the law here and has to pay the price.
“but for some strange reason, no one wears that number anymore?”
Why on earth would you say it is “strange?”
Everyone KNOWS he murdered two people.
Why would ANYONE want to celebrate and/or honor O.J. Simpson by wearing his numberd-jersey.
Lots of guesses on your part.
Then you state an opinion based on your guesses.
Well, it’s your right. Surprised you are one of the few who didn’t hear the tape of him entering that hotel room.
The jury stated they pretty much ignored the witness testimony and based their verdict on the tape.
The judge cited the tape when she sentenced the convict.
OJs statement today belied the actions he took in the hotel room.
“But my guess is that most murders in Nevada don’t get 15 years. “
I’d be very surprised if that were true if you’re talking real murder, not manslaughter.
LAS VEGAS A broken O.J. Simpson was sentenced Friday to as much as 33 years in prison for a hotel armed robbery after a judge rejected his apology and said, "It was much more than stupidity." The 61-year-old football Hall of Famer stood shackled and stone-faced when Judge Jackie Glass quickly rattled off his punishment soon after he made a rambling, five-minute plea for leniency, choking back tears as he told her: "I didn't want to steal anything from anyone. ... I'm sorry, sorry."...
Glass, a no-nonsense judge known for her tough sentences, imposed such a complex series of consecutive and concurrent sentences that even many attorneys watching the case were confused as to how much time Simpson got.
Simpson could serve up to 33 years but could be eligible for parole after nine years, according to Elana Roberto, the judge's clerk...
