I am not familiar with Murphee....that doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist...lol! I know of Murfreesboro, TN...its in that same area. Looks like I may need to do some map searching! When I leave these mountains and get down to flatland, I love it! Of course the mountains are gorgeous, but going to the beach is heavenly for me.
I am interested in finding out about Murphee, as you’ve mentioned. I’m too tired tonight to do it though. All those areas over near Gatlinburg are terribly busy little places and great tourist attractions, along with the Great Smoky Mountains.
Murphee is as far west as you can go and still be in NC! It is lovely, but other than the ubiquitous strip malls and Wal Marts and other box stores, once you got off the beaten path, it seemed to be a very poor area. Kind of like our area, once you get out of the tourist traps, most folks are just getting by, probably have lived in the same place for generations.
One of the greatest things we did while we were there—we drove to the Joyce Kilmer National forest and walked the trails. It’s the last stand of old growth trees in the area, maybe the east. It was so cool. The trees are HUGE, unbelievably so.
Daddy’s people are from the mountains, but I love the ocean. Don’t get to see it much—too many tourists nowadays. :)
How far inland are you, GG.
Bet that Joyce Kilmer National Forest was a beautiful place!
There’s a lot to see out there in this great land of ours and we don’t get to see much of it.
Jaycee, I know you are long time ago in bed, but I’m just winding up my materials for tomorrow’s worship services. Just checking back to see what was posted after I got busy. Want to tell you that I once lived in Murfreesboro, TN.
I guess you know that you can’t mention very many places where I haven’t lived. LOL.
My church, as you have probably seen from the pictures, sits on a hill and the driveway is steep. Roger will spend today grading off the driveway and parking lot so we can meet tonight. We are supposed to have our "Hanging of the Greens" and Advent dinner this evening. We already postponed it a week because Advent came on Thanksgiving weekend. Two of hubby's churches are on a hill, but all of them are in the country where the roads are narrow and dangerous in the best of weather, and impossible when it snows or floods. His gets called more often than mine.
Yes, I have moved 38 times and lived in 8 different states. I've visited the other 40 in the lower 48, and have friends in most of them from the old days with the band. We have a book-full of stories from those days, but a lot of them would not be proper for a person of the cloth to relate. LOL. Those days were BC (before Christ in our lives). Praise God, while we were yet sinners He loved us. Of course we are still sinners, but armed with the power of Christ to resist temptations.
Boy, I'm wordy this morning. It seems strange to hve so much time. Later.

Oh,Nan it must be beautiful where you are today..I wish I could join you for breakfast..I am having Oatmeal.
;o)
Hi Nan, Sorry about the weather...we cannot control it, can we? It blew cold snow during the night and my driveway is frosted over with ice, so I won’t be able to get my paper for a while.
It was 28 when I checked the temps early and its now 22. That is stange but it may get up to 30 today. The weather reported to be careful of black ice, so I will stay in this morning. The sun is peeking through and it looks bright outside...that is good. Have a nice day, you and hubby! I thought of you when I was putting T.P. on my scrambled eggs....LOL~~~
The loveliest words of prayer....and I never tire of hearing about that glorious day of Jesus’ birth. Hallelujah! The graphic is also lovely, Meg! I scrolled all the way down this morning and saw your sweet angel greeting. Thank you. I will be finishing the tree this morning since I can’t go out. Its almost finished but I had to stop before finishing. Its okay...plenty of time. I decided I would do what I can and not worry about what I can’t do. “HE” will help me always.
Enjoy the tree decorating..and don’t wander out where even a spot of ice could be!
Thank you for your sweet words..I loved that prayer.
When I developed a tremor it really got me down..I now rejoice over what God enables me to do instead of getting down over what I can’t do anymore. I may take all week to decorate as I keep finding more things to clean.
It’s all the kittens fault that I did not do my big cleanup earlier..That’s my story and I’m sticking with it.
Good morning MEG. Yes, it’s beautiful, if inconvenient. I think it doesn’t hurt us to have to sit down and rest from the rush and activities of life. I’m considering going back to bed for a nap. It was a short night. I wish you could have joined us for breakfast. I hate to say it, but I also had oatmeal. I had already fixed it before we got the calls to cancel. But that didn’t stop me from eating sausage and waffles too. LOL.
Don't forget age. That helps too.
LOL. Good morning Bob. Yes, age helps too, but we were still fairly young when we accepted Jesus Christ as our personal Savior. We both had a lot to overcome. Life sure has been more joy-full since then.
Naps are great! I see you were up working late and could use one..
I have two new kitties..my daughter rescued them at different times and brought them here when they came to escape a long power outage after Hurricane Ike.
They were both spayed this week..They never seemed to notice they had surgery..
Last night was the first time since the kittens came that I slept 8 uninterrupted hours..The youngest kitten loves to wake me up in the middle of the night. They are great fun, though.
;o)
Age does have its benefits!
