I am not moving right along today.

Good Morning! Well, I know you won't move left so you must be at a standstill.

I’ve been on a horse but I have never “ridden”.

Many, many years ago, my mom and dad bought a small ranch and bought 5 pregnant cows. I was about 8 years old.

We waited anxiously as each cow had her calf. When we were down to 1 cow, my younger brother (about 5 or 6) sighed, “Well, maybe Bessy will have a baby horse.”

This is something that has been remembered and enjoyed at many family gatherings.

“Some stallion, rearing swift,
Neighs hungry for new fodder,
And calls us to the drift:
Then down the cloven ridges —
A million hooves unshod —
Break forth the mad White Horses
To seek their meat from God!”

Maybe this time it will be different...

I have some paperwork that I need to finish before the 1st but the big job can wait until the weekend.

There is always so much rushing and running before Christmas that getting back to normal is a “let down”.

Lori has been really sick with her Christmas cold. I hope she gets to the doc today.

“Christmas Fruitcake Recipe”
{Something to save for the next year!}

Items Needed:
4 Oz. Fruit Bits
1 Railroad Tie
Wood Saw
Large Rubber Mallet
Safety Goggles

WEAR YOUR SAFETY GOGGLES. (Children: Get help
from an adult!) Cut a one-foot section from the middle
of your railroad tie. The resulting block of wood should
be the size and shape of a loaf of bread.

Then, take some fruit bits and pound them into the
block with your rubber mallet. Spread the colors around,
or you might wind up with an ugly fruitcake. Don’t be
afraid to throw some elbow grease into that mallet!
Good fruit bits should be much harder than the railroad
tie, so you can’t break anything.

For best result, you should pre-treat the fruit bits by
setting them on top of your garage for a year (or by
microwaving them on HIGH for 30 minutes).

Finally, cover it tightly in plastic wrap, and give your
loved ones the timeless and enduring gift of fruitcake!

THE COUNTRY of TEXAS

Please note that Texas is the only state with a legal right to secede from the Union. (Reference the Texas-American Annexation Treaty of 1848.)

We Texans love y’all, but we’ll probably have to take action since B. Hussein Obama won the election. We’ll miss
you too.

Here is what can happen:
1: Barack Hussein Obama becomes President of the United States, Texas immediately secedes from the Union.
2: George W. Bush will become the President of the Republic of Texas.

So what does Texas have to do to survive as a Republic?

1. NASA is just south of Houston, Texas. We will control the space industry.
2. We refine over 85% of the gasoline in the United States.
3. Defense Industry—we have over 65% of it. The term “Don’t mess with Texas,” will take on a whole new meaning.
4. Oil - we can supply all the oil that the Republic of Texas will need for the next 300 years. Yankee states? Sorry about that.
5. Natural Gas - again we have all we need and it’s too bad about those Northern States. John Kerry will have to figure out a way to keep them warm....
6. Computer Industry - we currently lead the nation in producing computer chips and communications—small companies like Texas Instruments, Dell Computer, EDS, Raytheon, National Semiconductor, Motorola, Intel, AMD, Atmel, Applied Materials, Ball Miconductor, Dallas Semiconductor, Delphi, Nortel, Alcatel, etc, etc. The list goes on and on.
7. Medical Care - We have the largest research centers for cancer research, the best burn centers and the top trauma units in the world, as well as other large health centers. Dallas has some of the best hospitals in the United States.
8. We have enough colleges to keep us going: University of Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Rice, SMU, University of Houston, Baylor, UNT (University of North Texas), Texas Women’s University, etc. Ivy grows better in the South anyway.
9. We have a ready supply of workers. We could just open the border when we need some more.
10. We have essential control of the paper industry, plastics, insurance, etc.
11. In case of a foreign invasion, we have the Texas National Guard and the Texas Air National Guard. We don’t have an Army, but since everybody down here has at least six rifles and a pile of ammo, we can raise an Army in 24 hours if we need
one. If the situation really gets bad, we can always call the Department of Public Safety and ask them to send over Chuck Norris and a couple of Texas Rangers.
12. We are totally self-sufficient in beef, poultry, hogs, and several types of grain, fruit and vegetables, and let’s not forget seafood from the Gulf. Also, everybody down here knows how to cook them so that they taste good. Don’t need any food.

This just names a few of the items that will keep the Republic of Texas in good shape. There isn’t a thing out there that we need and don’t have.

Now to the rest of the United States under President Obama:
Since you won’t have the refineries to get gas for your cars, only President Obama will be able to drive around in his big 9 mpg SUV. The rest of the United States will have to walk or ride bikes.

You won’t have any TV as the Space Center in Houston will cut off satellite communications.

You won’t have any natural gas to heat your homes, but since Mr. Obama has predicted global warming, you will not need the gas as long as you survive the 2000 years it will take to get enough heat from Global Warming.

Signed, The People of Texas

P.S. This is not a threatening letter - just a note to give you something to think about!

SLEEP WELL TONIGHT THE EYES OF TEXAS ARE UPON YOU!!

From a Texas Cousin via email.

Are you telling me I don’t know a horse from a jackass? LOL~
I looked at that little thing and thought “is this a small horse or a jackass?” I think you may be right, Amy! I was going to make a remark about the Democrats not knowing their....you will have to imagine the rest! Its a short word for jackass and its not donkey....!

I hate to tell you but I have to lay down a little while. Its gotten to be a real habit! Its nice to get to the age where you can lay down when you want to, isn’t it?

I am finishing putting away all traces of Christmas in and out of the house, plus trying to get back in Amy's Place Opening Graphics Mode, so please excuse one post for all. :)

Beautiful. That’s one of my favorite songs. I was so horse crazy when I was little, it’s a wonder my folks didn’t ship me out west/no return address. LOL

Thanks, GG! I'm STILL horse crazy. :)

A very beautiful horse in your opening this morning. Like that music also, girls!

Thank you, jaycee! I think it's a pretty, though a bit sad, song, too. But they usually are if they involve an animal somehow. :(

Love "Wildfire"!..Beautiful opening, Billie and Amy.

Thank you, Meg, and I love how you captured the look of today's opening! I thought the white horse (see picture below) Amy sent me was just gorgeous, but couldn't wait until Spring to use it, so he became "Wildfire", caught in a blizzard, when I thought of that song and the lyrics that go with it. (Amy also sent the picture of that beautiful girl that I added to the background.)

Thanks, GG! I’m STILL horse crazy. :)**

Me too. I’ve just toned it down a bit! Still absolutely love horses and nothing smells better than a warm horse or a barn full of horses. I have such a rapport with horses and dogs, it’s probably a good thing I don’t have money—I’d have my own personal equine/canine zoo! LOL
