In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
deportment \dih-PORT-munt\ noun
the manner in which one conducts oneself; behavior
Example sentence:
The school expects students to dress in proper attire and maintain a respectful level of deportment throughout the day.
Did you know?
"Deportment" evolved from the verb "deport," meaning "to behave especially in accord with a code," which in turn came to us through Middle French from Latin deportare, meaning "to carry away." (You may also know "deport" as a verb meaning "to send out of the country"; that sense is newer and is derived directly from Latin deportare.) "Deportment" can simply refer to one's demeanor, or it can refer to behavior formed by breeding or training and often conforming to conventional rules of propriety: "Are you not gratified that I am so rapidly gaining correct ideas of female propriety and sedate deportment?" wrote 17-year-old Emily Dickinson to her brother Austin.
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

Rush is going off on the Sonmali (Muslim) pirates.
I still cannot handle the news....small doses here on FR, but I am not ready for Rush yet.
I’m clinging to my gun and my religion
i KNEW that was going to be what you linked! love that song!
well a knife happy doc isn’t necessarily a good thing either, sounds like a measured response.
That sounds like a prudent plan.
No, but I agree with the original poster. No astronaut who allegedly visited the moon has ever submitted to a polygraph or signed a sworn affidavit. No impartial third party has verified the lunar landings.
Almost anything can be created with computer-generated imaging. I saw Lyndon Johnson present Tom Hanks with the Medal of Honor in “Forrest Gump” and it looked as real as the moon landings. I saw Harry Potter fly on a broom over the Thames River in “Order of the Phoenix” and it looked just as real as the moon landings.
-it’s what I expected for a first visit....same plan as the other doc, but he said we would be skipping the meds I already tried that made me bleed out......I knew I would be starting over, and I liked his manner, he told ME his findings and showed me the xrays...told me the next steps ....the last doc said I was active enough and did not need physical therapy.....this one recommended it....of course after two years I have given up the eliptical...I can now go back to it and watching my movies while working out. I like the plan, we shall see how it works out....from his viewpoint the arthritis has moved behind the knee and the bone spurs are something new...unless the other doc didn’t tell me everything.
you are a crank, belonging in a padded cell : )
