11/5/08 -- What a great day for America and the world! Congratulations to you all. Now I can become an American citizen, I guess.
It was a momentous relief for me to hear a President mention Global Warming with the gravitas it deserves, not a nebulous concept to be buried under platitudes. Over the course of my life, weather patterns in the country of my birth, NZ, have changed dramatically. Perhaps we are more sensitive being a long, skinny island nation. We also have Antarctica in our back yard, so we feel any threat to the ice caps as our own.
I am sorry for Prop 8. The laws of a nation should be about safety and fairness. They should not enforce second-class citizenry.
I have my own issues with marriage. I think it is a throwback to feudal times. It ought to be phased out. We should have agreements that get revised at ten-year periods. I can't think why gay people should necessarily want it, but if they want it with all its strictures and ownership over one another, then let 'em have it. What's the big deal? What the heck are we afraid of sharing? Our sacred heterosexual rite?
Being raised in a moderately religious home, I grew up being taught that marriage was a Sacrament -- Sacred. I was told, "No one must come between a husband and wife." Then I would look over at a relative with a black eye meted out by her husband in the privacy of their sacred matrimonial chamber, and the bruises on her child, and I knew that was bullshit. There was nothing holy there. Only love is sacred and heterosexuals don't own that.
I am thankful that the days of anti-intellectualism are over. The last 8 years were like a steady diet of Ho-Hos for the brain. Both Al Gore and John Kerry were torpedoed by this and the vicious assertions of a wicked propagandist, Karl Rove.
Ironically, it was Karl Rove's own predictions about the outcomes of each state that we were following last night. He's undoubtedly a genius, but something got twisted up inside him and he should go down in history as a creep and frankly, a traitor.
Who the hell forced Palin on John McCain anyway? Some pale imitation of Rove? "Let's put another slogan-totin' cowboy up there, only let's put him in a skirt and get the wimmin's vote!" What a horrible mistake. And yet, THANK YOU!
I must say that Rob and I stopped the tivo and got the boys in to watch John McCain's concession speech. We wanted them to see how a great man behaves in the face of defeat. I believe he is a good man and if he had won the Republican nomination 8 years ago, the world would look very different to us now. Still, this diet of hotdogs with Clinton and Ho-Hos with Bush are what has brought us to a new craving for something holistic and someone substantial who will walk beside us through the dark days ahead.
The next eight years will be undeniably hard, but with Obama, I don't think we will feel so alone. Up and at 'em! L
Lol, yes that really is her! You can check the url too as I just used it off the web.
*** Whoops, a couple of the women immediately
told me they did not believe that. I said,
its all over the web. They said they didnt
believe those websites. ***

Imagine that!
I guess ...
If it doesn’t fit (our way of thinkin’),
we must IGNORE it !!
I learned long ago not to cite certain websites to certain people. Just as we deride the MSN, they disbelieve anything from a conservative site.
In your post #61 ...

** Naturally...[heh]... the subject of the election was brought up. Naturally, I raised the subject of the Zogby poll that told that only 2% of Obama voters aced their how well informed questions. **

You NAILED it! And ...
That reminds me of Sean Hannity’s radio show today.
They do their own “man in the street” type interviews and today they were asking Obama voters about Obama, his friends, and just real real GENERAL common knowledge type stuff. The answers these voters gave was just incredible. The total IGNORANCE is unbelievable !!
They were voting for a ROCK STAR, not a Prez!
It’s like I have said about Ted Kennedy getting re-elected over and over again for the last 40+ years:
** Ted Kennedy is walking, talking, living breathing PROOF that there is NO minimum IQ required for voting!! **
You’re so much like me.
That’s why I appreciate you so much. ;o)
I wonder who Joxer voted for!
Who?
Lucy's recurrent penchant for lesbian roles probably weighs heavily on that relationship.
She’s probably pissed that John Key was elected in NZ.
she is an embarrasment to the name xena (aka zena).
(it is a real name not just some made up tv name.)
What’s the big deal? A) Its a personal/fan website. It wasn’t written for other people to criticize, its not an article column. B) She’s not bashing anyone. Stop being so sensitive, lol. Maybe some are not accustomed to sense of humor. Lastly, Lawless also has a lot of gay fans, so of course she’s going to speak on prop 8 on there. She herself is not a lesbian, nor is Madonna, or any gay icon.
Secondly, whoever said Palin could kick her ass is out of their minds. LOL.
Thirdly, just because you’re not on the cover of every tabloid and/or on Entertainment Tonight 24/7 doesn’t mean you’re a ‘washed up hag’. She is a talented actress and singer, and on top of that, she looks better than most of these young starlets these days in Hollywood half her age (she’s about to be 41 yrs old) who are already modifying their looks through plastic surgery.
And last, but not least...
well yeah, that just needed to be said.
ttyl
What Lawless wrote is out on the Internet for ANYONE to read, whether it’s a personal fan site or not. Besides, she doesn’t promote her beliefs only on her ‘personal’ website, she does so on tv, magazine and radio interviews, etc.
What do you mean she isn’t bashing anyone? Did you even read what she said about Sarah Palin? And I never said she was a washed up hag.
Take her thoughts on marriage. It ought to be phased out? She then whines “Then I would look over at a relative with a black eye meted out by her husband in the privacy of their sacred matrimonial chamber, and the bruises on her child, and I knew that was bullshit”.
OK, so let me get this straight. Marriage is a contributor of such abuse as she describes? What about heterosexual or homosexual couples who are in abusive relationships who aren’t married? What she said makes absolutely no logical sense, while making a very serious statement regarding the phasing out of marriage.
She’s entitled to her opinion, but that woman, like most celebrities, is a flake.
BTW, speaking of over the hill, how about Madonna?
Good grief, a thread from November. Being a woman I don’t usually post ‘chicks’, lol.
I can’t believe Madonna looks that bad. Look at her arms!!Last night there was a thread showing how bad Carrie Fisher looks now and someone posted a ‘good’ one showing Madonna!
Hollywood makeup and airbrushing do wonders.
True about Hollywood makeup and airbrushing. There was a shot of Gwyneth Paltrow without makeup posted a few days ago, and I was surprised at how plain she is without the Hollywood makeup. BTW, here's a site featuring celebrities without makeup. In all fairness, some of them are the worst photos possible, and others are of people like Goldie Hawn, who was quite beautiful when younger, but is around sixty and still trying to look thirty.
I posted a side by side picture of some young star just a few days ago and it showed the huge change after airbrushing. All the moles, etc, were gone and the skin looked wonderful. Any bumps and bulges were removed in the body area.
I just looked at the site you posted and have seen many of them before. I have written many times that the young pretty girls in any city are just as pretty as the movie stars.
They touch them up and men go ‘ga-ga’, lol.
Someone posted a HUGE photo the other day of some star and you could see the crooked teeth and moles all over her.
What will it take for your nation to take her back?
Wow, this washed up old hag sure is a bigot.
Hollywood has more haters....good grief.
.
Hoo did that?
